There you go, you've just spun it!There is no spin. The Conservatives are worse than useless and it was too late for Labour to change their candidate but they withdrew support for him.

Thank you.Rochdale by-election: independent David Tully reveals local reasons behind decision to stand for MP

Sorry, four Independents. Look him up, and let me know. The one who picked up 6000 votes and came second.
No. At most £72986.30, assuming Sunak hangs on till the very endJeez - are we really going to have to pay Galloway eighty grand a year plus expenses from the public purse? Ffs
There is a possibility that the Gorgeous George Groovy Gang will, having labelled Sunak and Starmer 2 cheeks of the same @rse, put c. 50 pro-ceasefire candidates up. Such feeling is growing quickly.Okay, I'll bite. The beginning of what?
Feel exactly the same but its democracy (of a sort)Jeez - are we really going to have to pay Galloway eighty grand a year plus expenses from the public purse? Ffs
Bit of a clue as to why he won so resoundingly there
Starmer tries to interfere when he canNonsense as usual from Galloway, the Russian sympathiser.
Labour didn’t have a candidate standing, because of anti semitism, and, as previously said, withdrew their support as it was too late to change candidates.
Sir Keir Starmer doesn’t select candidates, the local Labour Party did.
scatter gun of local issues: local hospital, speeding, help small business and sports clubs. The 'Independent' candidate also polled pretty well - who was that, and what platform were they standing on?
Tell me you don't understand 'spin' without saying you don't understand 'spin'There you go, you've just spun it!
And the voters clearly thought flip flop is no better! There is no spin. The Conservatives are worse than useless and it was too late for Labour to change their candidate but they withdrew support for him.
Maybe he can push the parties toward his preferred positions of "Vladimir Putin - he's alright really" and "Donald Trump: The real winner of the 2020 US election".Would it have happened if Jeremy Corbyn had been leader of the Labour Party? Sadly, we will never know.
But Galloway is such a great orator, he will hopefully give both main parties an almighty kick up the arse.
David Tully, an independent, comes second with 6,638 votes.Which one? There were three Independents standing. William Howarth, Mark Coleman and Michael Howarth. They just about managed 1000 votes collectively.
Thank you. He seems like a decent chap.Rochdale by-election: independent David Tully reveals local reasons behind decision to stand for MP

Yes you need to serve two (I believe consecutive) terms to qualify for the (generous) pension scheme. It's one of the reasons why so many 2019 Red Wall Tories are bricking it, the gravy train is leaving the station and they're stuck at the ticket barrier.Come 2001 my brother got in touch to wish him well, only to be told he would be seeking a second term, it turned out once an MP has won two General Elections they qualify for the MP final salary pension.
Ah how very Trump. "We didn't lose because we're not popular, it was because of everyone else deliberately trying to stop us".Tice claiming (without an evidence whatsoever) that his boy only lost because of "intimidation and violent threats on the campaign trail"
Ok, champ, whatever
My apologies, I hadn't read the list properly, and have since learned about him. Interesting reading. The one who picked up 6000 votes and came second.
The sort of things that people actually care about.scatter gun of local issues: local hospital, speeding, help small business and sports clubs.
The constituency level polling for this has been almost non-existent, which is a shame as I feel like if people had realised Tully had a realistic chance the result might have turned out differently (it's a lot easier for people put off different parties to back the independent candidate than a rival party).Rochdale by-election: independent David Tully reveals local reasons behind decision to stand for MP
