I agree my post was crass and insensitive. But to dress me up as some evil, "nasty", "hate filled" envious person is just ridiculous. Stupid? On this occasion yes. Letting myself down? Yes, fair to say so. A mass murderer? No.

I've also said a few things I probably shouldn't have. Apologies to those who have been offended. Let's draw a line here?

For what's it's worth I had my tyres popped, received hate mail and cabs called to mybhouse in the middle of the night by both Falmer and withdean residents... Many of whom were tories.

where in the article does it say the damage was done by any left sided politicals it could well have been by UKIP

Not offended me Herr Tub...just can't get my head round that people should laugh at anothers misfortune...anyway,you are entitled to your views as others are. Having been bought up during and after the war I saw what damage the Unions were doing to this country,my family were Labour supporters at the time..(The working mans saviour)...my father hated everything the Tories stood for....then when council houses were sold off...he was one of the first to buy. I was a Union man because I had to be if I wanted work as a Fitter/Welder putting in conveyers all over the country...I experienced their destructive tactics...I apologise for putting my country first but I have the old fashioned belief that if the country is doing better,then it filters down to the citizens. Anyway,no offence taken,line drawn.

Despite budgets since 2010 being 4% higher than England the deeply socialist party, or "progressive" party as they like to call it, have increased spending on health by 1% compared to englands 6%. Spending on schools fell by 5% in real terms whilst in england it has risen. The share of its budget spent on the nhs and education is less in scotland than it is in england.

Can't say I've looked into it too much but don't you have to also take things like free prescriptions, free university education etc etc into account. As for the NHS, what are the waiting times like in Scotland compared to England and, for that matter, Wales. If they're comparable then maybe they don't need to spend as much.

Fair points. And i suspect stats can go either way here but from the article i was reading educational attainment is similar in both countries but the attainment gap btw poor and rich is narrower in england. On nhs waiting times similar but preventable early deaths lower in north of england than scotland
