Singer Gene Pitney dies on UK tour
The American singer Gene Pitney has died in Cardiff while in the middle of a UK tour.
The 65-year-old American star was found dead just after 10am this morning in the city's Hilton Hotel.
Pitney's tour manager said the singer was found dead in his hotel room this morning by a long-term friend.
The singer, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, had played a show in Cardiff last night.
His 40-year career included the hits 'Twenty-Four Hours from Tulsa' and 'Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart'.
