Okay - I did my O-Level maths 25 years ago, and I'm now trying to help my 14 year old with GCSE maths.

Can someone please explain how to calculate a "three point moving average". I've not even heard of it !!!

Don't know, but the Albion have averaged three points from their last two games and are moving up the league...if that helps!

n Point Moving Average Line. Each point on this moving average line represents the average of the respective sample and the n-1 number of preceding samples. Thus, this line will smooth the pattern of means across samples, allowing the quality control engineer to detect trends. You can specify the number of samples (n) that are to be averaged for each point in the plot.

Alien to me as well, and I pissed my Maths 'O' Level in the Fourth Year (Year 10 in new money). We probably knew it under a different name, like diffrentiation and integration, which REALLY did my head in. Calculate dy by dx and all that bollocks...

Anyway, I thought questions had got easier now.
Such as what is 4+5?
If the given answer is within 78 of the actual correct answer they pass.

I thought they gave GCSEs away with every packet of Cheerios nowadays - at least thats what some people on here believe.

Just take the mean average of every three items.

E.g

1
2
3
4
5

3 point moving average - calculate mean averages of 123, 234, 345

The averages are written in the next column alongside the 'middle' value.
