What a wonderful gesture to the NHS workers, and , of course the staff of his two Manchester hotels.

Magnificent Gesture. A lot of hotels are looking to close in the next couple of weeks, I believe the Ritz is currently running at 5% occupancy.

As much as people vilify Gary Neville I have a lot of respect for any football player paid a lot of money yet drove a Toyota Prius as opposed to Bentleys etc his fellow players were driving st the time.

My opinion of Neville changed completely when he stopped playing football. Credit where it’s due.

Not sure if it is the same hotel, but it's certainly the same Gary Neville that I detested as a Man Utd player but now have enormous respect for both as a pundit and as, more importantly, a human being.

I've always respected Gary Neville. It goes back a long way.

In the early 90s, my miss-spent younger days, I followed Albion almost everywhere.

One Saturday i was coming back from somewhere in the Midlands/north west, Can't remember where. I got on the train and the only seat available was amongst what looked like a bunch of sixth formers wearing blazers. Not the greatest start as I had wanted a quiet table to get pissed at.

They weren't college blazers though- they had the Manchester United emblem on. It was their youth team.

The one in front of me asked the match I had been to and we then talked all the way back to London about everything football. I remember thinking about how intelligent and articulate he was. He would have been 18, and at that stage he had hardly played a game in the first eleven (i think he said he'd played a single European match). It wasn't until years later that it dawned on me that it was Gary Neville.

Just before we got back to Euston I brought up the League Cup match Albion had played against Manchester United that season. I mentioned how one of their team had come on and effectively taken up the wrong position and let us in to score. He was pointed out in their group and they took the piss.

Years later I realised that it was David Beckham I owed an apology to....

I went to a Charlatans gig in Manchester once where they delayed the start as Neville was running late. He was clearly embarrassed and stayed behind at the end to apologise to everyone.

Once football starts again I will look at him in a totally different light as a pundit. He is one of the better ones too, which will help

Me too, I think because of his relentless, depressing droning on and on about all things Man Utd. Just goes to show how during challenging times like this we start to see people in a different light.
