Actually laughed out loud reading this. Salah... Antonio... Salah... Antonio... It's a no brainer, isn't it? (Crooks I mean).

It is that time of year again. The best football pundit in the world announces his Team of the Year. And who can argue with Antonio over Salah? Not anyone who knows anything about football, that is for sure.

Well if he wanted to confirm his reputation as a complete ****, he has. Clueless

I once had to attend a League Cup semi-final at London ground. The Metropolitan Police, being the geniuses they are, had decided to put a cordon around the ground and only let people with tickets through. The flaw in this plan is that the media had to pick up their passes at the press entrance, which was inside the cordon. I happened to be present when Garth Crooks attempted to surmount this difficulty by loudly demanding 'Don't you know who I am?'. I am still childishly delighted to tell you that no, none of the police on duty knew who he was.

Ali Mac makes Crooks' team this week. Here is what he has to say about him:

Alexis Mac Allister: Brighton have not scored three goals in a game all season. To do it away at Everton is impressive when you consider the Seagulls' record at Goodison has not been the best. The star of the show was Argentine Alexis Mac Allister, who took both his goals brilliantly.

Brighton now sit ninth in the table and have the distinct whiff of European football in their nostrils. Brighton's success at Goodison reflects very badly on Rafael Benitez and Everton who sit six places below Brighton and eight points adrift. I know there are injuries, nevertheless something is not right at Everton and I'm not entirely sure Benitez is going to be given the time to fix it.

Did you know? Alexis Mac Allister has scored four goals in his 14 Premier League games this season, three more than he managed in his two previous campaigns combined (one goal in 30 appearances), while his opener against Everton on two minutes and 43 seconds was Brighton's fastest away Premier League goal and their third quickest in the competition overall).

Not picking Salah is just plain weird. Might be boring but he’s the best player in the league by a mile. So, so odd.

I think he likes to pick a different eleven each week. Which somewhat undermines the appellation. Oh well. I just thought I'd mention the Maccolade.

I'm not sure what relevance this bit has to Alex Mac Allister, but if there's one thing I know: No Brighton win shall be viewed in any other way but through the lens of how it affected the team that lost.

Garth Crooks team of the week:

Defenders: who kept a clean sheet, and provided an assist. Not enough? Take remainder from a top 3 club
Midfielders: who's scored? Any worldies? Anyone scoring more than one? Take remainder from a top 3 club
Forwards: who's scored the most? Use worldies as a tiebreaker. If still undecided - take from a top 3 club

I reckon you could guess his 8 of his team by following these rules.

Not sure how you managed to attribute that quote to me. It isn't mine

It's in the bit you posted quoting Crooks. I'm not suggesting you said it, merely that Crooks did. Per your post.

My point is that I listened to 3 football podcasts and read a couple of reviews of the Everton match and almost 100% of the commentary was about Everton and how bad they were, with virtually nothing about the fact that we made them look bad (The Game aside)

BDB should be in the middle of that back 3 - been outstanding in last 3 games both defending, distribution, scoring and his work for our third goal on Sunday.
