Gannon regrets?

Dorset Seagull

Once Dolphin, Now Seagull
Does anyone agree with me that Jim Gannon may regret his decision to turn us down. We have always had the potential to be a big club because of the large catchment area of our fan base and lack of quality teams in close proximity.

It's reasonable to assume that with the new ground and potential revenues this could bring that everything will be in place to make a major assualt on making this club great again in a very short space of time.

He may then be looking back and saying "if only".......or am I just dreaming and out of touch?

PS
I did think he seemed like a top bloke though

I don't think he will, because the decision wasn't just a footballing one, it was about his family and therefore he made the right decision. I'm sure if Stockport were further south, he would be our manager now. I genuinely believe that, but it's a long way from Stockport (I actually went to Stockport late last year to visit an uncle in hospital, it's a long journey) and it wasn't right in the modern day environment for him to uproot and come south, which he would have had to, realistically. It's a shame though, he seems a top bloke.

Think he put himself in quite a difficult position with Stockport all that talk about being untenable. But as said it was about family than football

He might have put himself in a stronger position by showing commitment to a club he played for when a potentially better offer came along.

I don't begrudge Gannon at all reading McNulty's comments (who must be wondering exactly what he's done signing for MA only to see him removed a fortnight later). Big upheaval coming from north to south when his family and life so entrenched in that area. And he could well get a much better offer in the next 12months. Good luck to him (except when they come to Withdean for the final game) I say. I think it's been a very gentleman-like process so far, credit to both Stockport and the Albion for the way they conducted themselves.

Im sad to see he wont be our manager. He is highly qualified as he is one of very few managers/coaches with a UEFA Pro Licence in the Football League and I thought he was the right man for the job.

Still, we must soldier on and find other possibilities. So who are the bookies tipping to take the Withdean hot seat???

I think Falmer is still too far away. It would take something special for a manager to still be in place in three years time. Anyway, we're not a big club. We're desperate for support at the moment. We have been for too many years. But the people of Sussex aren't as crazy about supporting Brighton as we might hope for, and you can't change people's allegiances easily. Things like the playoff final in Cardiff are misleading. I know so many people from Sussex who went for the day out. But they'll never go regularly to games. Not even at Falmer.

In the short term I think he may regret it but he is clearly a focused and talented manager on the up, so his big break will probably come at a higher level than us.

Not quite, born in London but moved to Ireland when very young and raised over there.

He's been very committed to Stockport and life 'oop north' for many years. Pity we didn't get him, because it seems he might have been good for us, but sometimes you have to respect a decision where the heart rules the head.

Falmer is still too far away to be used as a means of gettinga manager in as McGhee, Wilkins and Adams were all unveiled at their appointment as 'the man who will lead us out at Falmer'. Only 1 person is guaranteed to do that DK and woebetide anybody who tries to get in the way of his glory.

I don't think Knight will give up. We didn't with McNulty, why would we now. I can see him re-approaching Gannon and perhaps upping the offer and incentives.

I wouldn't be surprised either............just hope he approaches the person who wears the trousers first........Mrs. Gannon.
