[Food] Gammon Accompaniment

Always a tough one and I've been known to swing both ways on this particular issue but what is the perfect accompaniment to a gammon steak?

My dad used to make it with Parsley sauce and mash.
Not sure that's the options you were considering though.

Never a fan of pineapple, myself.
A fried egg always seems a more sensible accompaniment.
Are there other options, I'm missing?

Whilst I like bacon, I find gammon too thick and salty, and gets in my poor old teeth. If anything it’s got to be egg and chips with it.

I voted egg but I'm not averse to a bit of pineapple. Preferably, fresh fruit that's been cooked in the gammon pan.

On a related note, I once had gammon, egg and chips in a chain pub in Bristol when I was uni. If I remember rightly, it was part of a 2 meals for a fiver promo and to top it off you were allowed unlimited fried eggs. I think I went for 5 after deciding any more could cause me to Cool Hand Luke.
