me and the mrs went there in about 1990.

lovely weather, but the beaches were too much hassle - too many people flogging you stuff etc.

Also remember this is the Atlantic - the sea was bloody cold - and very choppy - no water sports where we were.

Stayed on the hotel complex, nice enough, but apart from the trips to the market / kids school - take lots of pens paper etc / jungle to see the monkeys/Roots experience - Kunte Kinte and all that/trip down the river,we really could have been anywhere most of the time.

For Winter sun go to the Maldives - there IS somewhere special - but expensive to get to I guess.

What about one of the Canaries - Fuertaventura is nice, especially around Corellejo in the north - fab beaches

Thanks for that, i would like to go to Fuerteventura but the bf wants to go somehere non english???

You say you went in 1990, i expect things might have changed since then?

Fuerteventura is probably the most un-English of all the Canary Islands

Apparently its really boring there, its such a pain trying to find somewhere hot in December :(
