So did I, and the present Mrs Titanic, in April 1987. It was very good.

me and the mrs went there in about 1990.

lovely weather, but the beaches were too much hassle - too many people flogging you stuff etc.

Also remember this is the Atlantic - the sea was bloody cold - and very choppy - no water sports where we were.

Stayed on the hotel complex, nice enough, but apart from the trips to the market / kids school - take lots of pens paper etc / jungle to see the monkeys/Roots experience - Kunte Kinte and all that/trip down the river,we really could have been anywhere most of the time.

For Winter sun go to the Maldives - there IS somewhere special - but expensive to get to I guess.

What about one of the Canaries - Fuertaventura is nice, especially around Corellejo in the north - fab beaches

Fuerteventura is probably the most un-English of all the Canary Islands

Why would anyone want to waste hard earned money lying on the beach for a week or two? I couldn't think of anything more boring!
