Way out west
I just tuned in to News 24 hoping to get an update on what was happening in the Middle East, all they were showing was a live broadcast from Saif Ghadaffi talking about what was going on...blaming the army for being inexperienced when they were dealing with the problems, also slating those who want to see the country break up into an Emirates type of state.

It really is fascinating as to what is going on in the various protesting countries. I do think it is great that these aged dictators are getting the boot.

Ridiculous heavy handedness with protestors. Certainly makes the protests of our students against 'kettling' seem a little over the top.

where are you finding this flying out business.

just because a western bogeyman gets toppled doesnt mean its a Good Thing unless your crystal ball is in a tip top condition. its just an exciting news story until the dust settles. or doesnt.

His son has been appearing on State television, with a rather threatening tone but I understand he is considered to be a bit of reformer by the West.

Adds weight to the theory that his old man is currently sitting by a pool in Venezuela.

That's true. The West are, I'm sure, quite nervous about the whole thing - especially if Saudi is next. Having said that, given Gadaffi's terrorism record I would say he's one they'll be pleased to see the back of

Saudi and UAE - absolutely no chance of a pro-democracy revolution. Saudi had a few issues with their Shia in the east but have the might to quell any trouble there.

But then again if it does kick off it will be a good excuse to re-patriate (in time for Falmer!!!)

More chance of civil war in Saudi than anything else... and supsect it is only just around the corner. The ramifications of Civil War in Saudi are potentially more catastrophic than Israel annexing the whoe of Palestine and Lebannon.

Talk of a protest march/gathering on 11th of next month on Olaya St in Central Riyadh. We'll see!

He's holed up in Gordon Brown's place.

On a serious note though, the problem I see is these countries overthrow a dictator and then replace him with another.

Doesn't sound like he's fled according to today's reports. Perhaps he's just nipped out to get his hair done again. Going for the Lionel Richie Hello era this time?

if you have property to sell on the edgware road you are f***ing laughing right now.

time for the ottomans to make a comeback the turks are doing very well right now and do not go in for all the chopping off hands and hanging people from cranes business. much better for them to be back in charge of the islamic world.
