Full Strength Against FCUM

dont think its any coincidence that this little wobble has come since we rested a number of players against woking and subsequently lost some momentum

last night we appeared to be getting back on track and although we gave the ball away far too much in the first half, the second half was a great improvement and it could have even been three points

it is important to build on that and i would therefore go as close to full strength as possible on saturday - playing the stiffs and then having it all change again for a big game against another team sniffing around the top spots in colchester could be asking for trouble - especially with huddersfield to come the week after

a trip to bury inbetween those games would be far from ideal

i say put out the youth / reserves.....rest regroup and prepare for the league.

injuries, more games, suspension, media.....all unwanted.

Poyet will be dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't!

I agree with the original poster. Don't think players at our level have the mindset to stop playing for a week. I would play the best possible team.

I'd like us to thrash this tribute team out of sight so would be delighted if we put out a full strength team

As I said earlier this is the team I would like to see us put out:

.................. James .................

MacFarlane ... Vickers .. Sherriff ... Bolwell

Shonk .. Hayward .. Strong .. Redwood

............. Hider .. Woodley .............

Subs
Godfrey, Tuck, Cooper, Cumming-Bart, Goodwin.

Deffo start Hayward over Cumming-Bart. Wouldn't want them to think we're not taking the game seriously.

Also agree. The momentum seems to have been lost since the 1st Woking game and we've only seen glimpses of previous form in the subsequent games. Now that the team upped the performance in the 2nd half last night, they need to build on it. OK, there is risk of injury & bookings, but I'd push for a settled and consistent side to keep the momentum going.

I think this is a very good point indeed. Something was definatly lost after the first Woking game. Maybe Gus will play a full strengh team on Sat, I think he should. All part of the managment learning process. Although it has to be said he has not got much wrong so far. Full strengh please Gus and then change as and when it is nessacary, form, suspensions etc..

'Full strength' EXCEPT for Kish and Benno.

Kish needs a rest, and Benno is just too important to take risks with.

Full strength team with Kish out and Bennett on the bench.

Really think we need to be full strength too. Can't risk a replay, would be a disaster this time. Don't think we can afford to even rest Bennett, take him off if we are winning comfortably but don't rest him. Kish can be replaced with Bridcutt without too much effect on the team.

Plus we have the full week after to rest up, no midweek game which is great.

Is Wood eligible to play?

As posted on aniother thread about the same subject I would play:

Brezovan

Bridcutt
Elphick
Dunk
Painter

Bennett
Dicker
Sparrow
Smith

Murray
Barnes or Wood if allowed.

Bridcutt has played right back in his career which will give Calderon a break if we play a flat back 4, but if we are able a back 3 with Bridcutt in front of them thus allowing the midfield to push on further forward and win this game at home.

I expect a full strength side to be named as there is a whole week for the players to recover before the game against Colchester United.
