That was my thought. The hairspray at the begining being the spoof of the commercialism of today's music, the video being riddled with cliches (bright lights, the dance moves, the outfits, the guest rapper to give hip hop cred), and maybe the sound on my computer is just bad, but it sounded like their voices have been put through synths to hide their inability to sing (which fits in with the idea of image/willingness to 'slut it up' being more important these days), the 'like me' being an obvious riff on "Dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me", and the whole dirty skank vibe that became common thanks to christina aguilera circa 'dirrty'.

Of course, it could just be a cheap rip off of Aguilera/Pussycat Dolls and I just over analysed what is simply a lack of originality.
