Dear NSC..

Does anyone have any good recommendations about pubs in the area of Portslade, Southwick, Hove etc that have free to hire function rooms?
Looking to have parents 40th wedding anniversary somewhere, without going OTT as they don't want it that way!

So far have been advised along the lines of The Mile Oak Inn, The Romans, The Alibi (not free, but cheap)...

Any suggestions welcome.

Anyone who wants to slag off Portslade etc.. if you must, please do so on another thread.

Cheers.

WSU, just below the seagull.
Romans is a good venue. Chris the landlord is an Albion nut, whether it's free or not I don't know. Have been to several bashes there, he normally shuts one side of the pub down for private parties.

How many people? If it is quite a few I would say Romans, otherwise, could try the Cricketers in Southwick. The landlord would probably let you have the back corner of the pub in the restaraunt part for free.

No more than 50 I would guess...

Hi mate - I went to the Brunswick on Saturday night...I can't remember if they charge, but they have 3 separate rooms upstairs....went there for L&G Xmas party a couple of years ago and is a decent venue...

When I sorted the misses 40th a couple years ago, I hired the Romans in Southwick...We did have to pay for the bar staff for the evening but in the pub itself they were great and they'll shut off half the pub for you. They will also put on food if you want

Other than that, speak to the Mile Oak...Drop me a text later if you're interested as I have the number...I also have number for a DJ (one of the dad's of a lad in my team) - just don't let your brother do the music - you know what his taste is like!!!

I went to a 70th last Saturday and there was approx 35 people. It was comfortable as we used the restaraunt for seating as well. If your doing any food (buffet) it can go round the corner away from the general public. If you go here, tell Paul the landlord that Daz sent you and the tight bugger might buy me a pint! :)

The Nevill or The Stadium offer free function rooms and have good parking.

The Nevill does good food now (Pizza & pasta)

I recently used the free function room for my fathers wake, at The Whistlestop opposite Portslade station. Nice big room and access to the garden too. The only problem is parking really.
