Who do people think is the best in recent times I think Paul Watson my son thinks Darren Currie but i think Watson scored more goals and assists from his kicks.

You'll struggle to find a better free-kick taker in England than Currie. I would say he is one of the most naturally talented dead-ball specialists to ever play for the Albion.

Whatever happened to clever free-kick routines that flummox the opposition?

Last one I can recall was Argentina's one v England in 1998...

I edited it when I saw somebody had added Beckham, which was so obvious nobody would have said Watson or Currie over the likes of Beckham, Ronaldo etc.

Better than Dean Wilkins? I remember when he placed the ball, it was as good as giving us the goal.

I would argue it was same with Currie. When we had a free-kick 20/25 yards out you knew he would deliver quality. I remember the one he scored against QPR at Withdean; I knew it was going in (well sort of) the moment the foul was committed.

Note I didn't say he was THE best, but ONE OF the best. Shame he wasn't here longer.

Paul Waston's free kick away to Port Vale the season we won the league sums it up for me. Paul Watson hands down.

They called 'Ryan Taylor' (Newcastle) a set-piece specialist today on Sky Sports during Spurs/Toon. He then hit the first man about 4 times.
