Well I have taken the advice of those in the know here and installed Avast. It's works better than AVG and seems a whole lot quicker.

companys make free ones to entice people, its their own fault if they start chraging and people download a different free tool that does exactly the same...therefore its pointless paying for something thats free anyway!
 




View, Toolbars then deselect the one you don't want.

That's not how I went about it.

It does slow down browsing/loading speed considerably, so I did this;
down-menu to right of AVG, select 'options', select 'advanced' from that, and deselect checks from both boxes.
Presto, back up to speed, and I can just run the antivirus when I feel like it, just like before.
