It is sad they had to buy the title.

But I'd still rather it went to Chelsea than Man U.

I agree that Lampard is a force in the middle of the park though. Got a good shot on him too

Well done Chelsea, if they fail to win the title it will only show that money can't buy everything, proof that hard honest graft doesn't matter at all if someone comes in with a pot load of money. For me the highlights of the Premiership are seeing how high the likes of Charlton and Bolton can finish, those are two teams that work their nuts off for each other, and play some pretty decent and entertaining footy most of the time. If Abramovich hangs around and doesn't get bored there is a fair chance that Chelsea will go on to win the title for years to come, the expression "hollow victory" comes to mind...

I'm amazed that people keep prattling on about Chelsea buying the title as if that's a new development of some sort. What exactly have Arsenal and Man Utd been doing for the last ten years?

The likes of Henry, Viera, Bergkamp, Reyes, Pires, Campbell, Ljungberg, etc, didn't come through Arsenal's youth ranks.

Similarly, the likes of Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Ferdinand, Keane, Smith, Saha, Ronaldo, etc, didn't come through Man Utd's youth ranks either.

Sure, Chelsea have spent a lot of money in a short space of time, but so what? It's not as if Arsenal and Man Utd haven't spent multi-millions in the recent past. At least now there are three very powerful clubs in the Premiership. The annual Arsenal / Man Utd title race was getting really tedious. It's nice to see that the cycle has been broken.

I hope Chelsea win it this year simply for the sake of variety.

Fair comment about the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd having spent vast sums over the past few years to try and win the title. I think the difference with Chelsea is that they have bought players to win the title this season, there is a sense of impatience that hasn't manifested itself before, at least Arsenal and Man Utd have brought in players to improve and mature with the club. The only by product of the Chelsea revolution is that it has freed up players like Knight and Nicolas to ply their trade in the lower divisions, if only because they were never likely to break into the Chelsea first team.

Lampard is an excellent player, he and Steven Gerrard two of the best midfielders in the world at the moment.

Valid points LB, but surely in the history of British football there has never been a more crass purchasing of the title than Chelsea's, although Blackburn Rovers' win in the early 90s must come a close second.

I'm still disgusted at the way Brighton & Hove Albion spent millions buying titles a few years ago.

A disgrace!

Big fat Frank Lumpalard is a whinging cry-baby. He was reported to have said that he wanted to single handedly ram the comments from West Ham fans "down our throats". The next week, we played Chelscum in the cola cola cup and fat Frank missed a penalty in front of the west ham fans......oh boy o boy was that sweet justice :salute:

Robben In my opionion has been the buy of the season, though Rooney has started showing signs of challenging for that title.

I love good football :)

You missed Everton out from your list of teams that work their nuts off. I really hope they get the fourth champions league spot.

It's one of three from Chelsea for the player of the season: Lamps, Terry or Robben.

Stuart Downing - young player of the year.

What makes me laugh is you boys banging on about Terry being immense etc. Same mould as CAmpbell and all the others.
In the Premership they look so good because that football plays to their strengths. Once you start playing continental sides who are putting you under pressure they simply are not good enough.

You have to start being able to defend in the true sense of the word. It is all about winning the ball at the back and then keeping it. If you watch Terry and Campbell and King their instinct is to hit the channels with percentage balls.

I am no Man Utd fan but Ferdinand is the one exception to this. He is a defender in the continental mould and the one example that the younger players need to follow.

If you were watching Huddlestone on Saturday I thought he is on the right road. his distribution was superb. His positional sense of play is not great but at 18 that can be taught.

Watch the Italians, the Spanish the South Americans and the French in their pomp. All these sides were able to stop the other sides from dominating them by starting from the back and having the confidence and technical ability to play through the midfield.

The Euro game against Portugal was a case in point. England coped superbly with the balls pumped into the box but the sheer weight of pressure will finally tell when you are playing aginst players as silky as those. Everyone around was moaning about Vassell and Owen being to similar and that Heskey ehould have come on. Perhaps, but for me the real pressure was created by the inability of people like Campbell to hold the ball and play through those in front of him.

Terry in the same mould. Player of the year??

My f***ing arse.
