FL was being slated on a London radio phone-in.
They just played a clip on 5-live, from which it sounded like the journo was reading a 'red top' verbatium, to which Lampard took great offence.

During his call he certainly put the journo in his place, pointing out 'what do you know that means you can call me scum'.
Strangley enough journo didn't have much of a come back.

(looking for a link, now)

Not fat Frank's biggest fan but fair play. There are too many Radio presenters (Journo is a bit strong for James O'Brien) who shout their mouths off about personal lives of others.

Sadly I can't find an actual playing link, just an MP3 connect on LBC's web site.

Well done Mr Lampard, maybe a few more players will take his lead.

O'brien comes across a total dick there.

Never understood the Lampard hatred. He speaks sense there.

If I was in Franks shoes I would be going down that office and demanding to speak to his boss, either sack him or I do your radio show for slander...you have a choice...make it a wise one!!!!!

I'm listening to the Youtube videos now, and I think Frank is spot on. It's out of order for anyone to take what they read in the press and believe it is gospel. But I don't think the presenter was doing that, I don't think he was saying "Frank Lampard is scum and weak for letting his children live in a situation worse than their own", he was speaking generally and I think Frank took it completely out of context here.

But great to listen to!

Listening to the radio this morning, I heard a 'snippet' from the news about 'allegations of carelessness' from him regarding his wife.

Now do I and everyone else REALLY need to know that??

It's an affront to my ears to have to hear this sort of gossip-mongering, and a blatant incursion into personal privacy for these people involved in a marital separation. I do NOT want to hear it, I do NOT care about any celebrity's personal relationships, and it's a disrespect that goes way too bloody far with what we call 'news'.

Pretty much what Peter Allen (5 Live Drive) was saying.
TV and radio look down their noses at 'red top/hello' reporting, but still report it, only dressing it up in such a way they can make it look like it's in the public interest.
He's not wrong.

Glad to see everyone on Lampard's side on this one. Like others on here, I'm not a Lampard fan, but I was quite impressed, not least with his (relative) eloquence, especially considering how emotional he was. Quite how he stopped himself screaming "you ****" down the phone at O'Brien, I have no idea.

I read it on the sun's website, and to be honest, it doesn't sound like he "owned" the dj. I only read the article abut the incident, not the transcript, though.

But it read like Lampard was a sulking child expecting an easy ride from the media because it's the anniversary of his mum's death, and that things shouldn't be reported because his sister was upset, and like he is too stupid to have learned how the media works after all these years in the spotlight.

And regardless of how the confrontation actually went down (I'm assuming you're all more right about who 'came out on top'), the DJ won. He got more exposure than he would otherwise get. Like when Jamie Carragher allowed the talksport dj to wind him up about quitting the england team. It's baiting to get attention and exposure. I know the dj as the guy who used to be the sidekick on The Wright Stuff, the nation now knows he has his own radio show, and he has celebrities call in, he's controversial and such.
