I hesitate to reply to such a blinkered half-wit but here goes. The slaughtering of animals in accordance with religious belief, while it may be considered cruel by some, is not carried out for the express purpose of entertainment.
Anyway is for instance the slaughtering of an animal by cutting it's throat any more cruel than hanging it upside down on a conveyer, partially stunning it and then feeding it through an automatic decapitation machine.
I think raising the subject of halal says more about your prejudices (why not pick on kosher butchery) than any liberal hypocracy.
