FORTY NOTES HELPS SCOUTING

The Forty Notes Fund is once again asking Albion fans to help the club attract new players - but also contribute towards two revolutionary coaching aids which will help the current squad throughout the season.

Instead of the money raised going directly towards transfer fees or wages of new or loan players, funds will be spent on the scouting network database and also a new video coaching aid.

Scouting Network provides detailed analysis on upcoming opponents and individual professional players across the world. Strengths, weaknesses, recent performances, and a whole host of vital data on clubs and players is available to the club; giving Albion’s coaching staff much more information than would normally be obtained from the club's own scouts.

Video Coach provides in-depth video analysis of every first-team match, using a special camera that monitors individuals, tracks their performance and enables the coaching staff to further evaluate performances using specialist video software.

The cost to subscribe to both aids is in the region of £25,000 per season, and The Forty Notes Fund is aiming to raise this figure to provide the club with these two technological advancements during 2007/08 season.

Fans are being asked to take out a standing order to the Forty Notes Fund (not the club) for £10 per month to help contribute towards the cost.

Alan Wares of the Forty Notes Fund said; “We approached the club during the summer to see how we could help with the acquisition of new players, but this is a much better use of funds than our contributions being swallowed up into the black hole of transfer fees and wages. The Scouting Network will help the club identify the right transfer targets – and the Video Coach, which has proved very successful for other clubs, will enable the coaching staff to improve on existing methods. If we can attract 250 subscribers we will have achieved our goal.”

Albion boss Dean Wilkins added, “Thanks to the efforts of the Forty Notes Fund, hopefully we will have two vital advancements in place for the new season, which will help us in training, preparing for matches and to identify future transfer targets.”

Fans can donate by setting up a Standing Order with their bank, either online, or at their own branch, to pay in to the following bank account…
Account Name: Forty Notes Fund
Account No.: 05318022
Sort Code: 23-85-89
Address: Allied Irish Bank 20-22 Marlborough Place, Brighton BN1 1UB

The Forty Notes Fund has promised that the money will be used for the subscription only. All subscribers will receive a certificate of thanks and report on what their donations have bought.

Any excess funds will remain in the Forty Notes account until such time as a signing is imminent, and the fund feels that it can helps towards costs of acquiring that player.

I think these are both hugely valuable investments in the future development of the club... perhaps it's a pity they are not funded directly by the club, but I would urge anyone who can to support this venture.

I will set up an S/O when I get the chance.

If the video coach is so good, why haven't we invested in one before now?

£25k should be doable. We only need 625 people to sign up - surely we can muster that...?

I know the video coach was investigated towards the end of last season... so it seems a good move to invest in it from the start of this new season.

£10 per month only needs 209 people to raise the £25k.

Hey Al. Just a suggestion but what about the club offering VIP treatment to a handful of donors on a matchday? Say a dozen or so, Board Room dining, etc etc and the chance to select Dean Cox as MoM. The marginal cost is minimal as most of us are season ticket holders anyway and might encourage a few more people to donate.

Do we have any more takers for this?

The response has been a tad slow and disappointing, and the club - Dean specficially - could really do with our help on this one. No obligation, of course - I'm just asking.

If I can put this into context. Can I ask people to sacrifice the cost of three beers a month to help the club out? For the average NSCer, three beers surely only represents a TINY proportion of the monthly beer ration...

Cheers.

Tough one this!
My fixed rate mortgage runs out in two months and I am facing a big hike in my repayments. So, I dont feel in a position to set up a monthly payment,
but a one off I could maybe manage.
