That was about half an inch of snow and ice - not a foot and a half! 😃
Yeah, but it was ICE. As Perry Digweed will remember well. (Although he should have been sent off before that goal). That match should not have been played.

I am sure many of us can remember matches played at the Goldstone in a snowstorm…. I was huddled under the West Stand .
I can remember helping clear the snow off the Goldstone pitch to get a game on. No idea what game, though!

"It was a memorable day for the Posh. Their best crowd for five years, record gate receipts of some £50,000 - and a performance which really merited a place in the last eight of the FA Cup.

However, Greig Shepherd, scorer of one of Posh's two goals, afterwards compared this match to Bambi on ice.

Chris Cattlin, a manager thankful his second division side are still left in the FA Cup, likened it to the Torvill and Dean show."

Halifax Town. 1963 Big Freeze. The only game staged that day and it was shown on BBC that night (no MOTD then) I'm probably one of the schoolkids who helped to clear the snow off the pitch before the start. We lost 1-0 !!!
