From the BBC;

Nottingham Forest's Carling Cup tie at home to Leicester was abandoned at half-time after defender Clive Clarke collapsed in the dressing room.

Paramedics rushed down the tunnel to attend to Clarke shortly after the half-time whistle.

A Leicester spokesman said the player was receiving medical attention in an ambulance and was conscious.

The restart was initially delayed before the referee called off the game, with Forest leading 1-0.

Forest boss Colin Calderwood and Leicester manager Martin Allen then emerged from the tunnel to make an announcement to the crowd.

Calderwood said: "We are afraid that due to the serious illness of a Leicester player both clubs have agreed to postpone the match."

The Reds held a 1-0 lead over their east midlands counterparts courtesy of Junior Agogo's 31st-minute strike.

I don't mean to sound as heartless as I obviously will, but how would you feel if you went to a game and then it was abandoned because one of the players was taken ill and had to go to hospital ?

I don't remember the QPR game being abandoned when Charlie was stretchered off to the Sussex County in agony. I bet our players were "quite upset" that day too.

OK. Heartless bastard. Sorry.

A broken ankle isn't life threatening. Very painful but not life threatening.

Edit to add the BBC website says it was the referee's decision.

Depends, collapses are never nice to see, and we don't know whether he fitted or not. I'm sure it'd take the players out of the mindframe to play the game.

Update on the Leicester website says that he's now in a stable condition. Let's hope he's going to be ok.

I suspect that normally they would simply have delayed coming back out, seen him taken to the hospital and got on with it. However, with the guy that died on the pitch recently, I expect the ref had warning bells ringing in the back of his head, and also took advice from the club medical teams.

Not completely comfortable posting rumours like this, but the rumours on the Forest and Foxes board seem to point to a heart attack.

I'm sure that couldn't have been confirmed until he reached hospital, but the reaction of the doctors and the medics in the changing room pointed to the possibility.

If so, hope he recovers quickly and well done to the Forest backroom staff for possibly saving someones life.
