Looking forward to this. Going to be wet as no doubt.

Crowd surely above 7k for this one and decent atmosphere.

Shame Forest lost last night, they'll be guns blazing on Fri I reckon

We could do with 3 points after all our recent draws

6500 at best I would have thought. Probably even closer to 6000. Should be a good game though and atmosphere is usually better on a Friday.

Why are we having games on Fridays? Is it to do with Christmas shopping or something?

Can't see the crowd being near 7k, weather forecast is shocking, near christmas, prices at £24.50 and we have played Forest loads of times over the last few seasons.

6200 TOPS.

Hope i'm wrong but can't see a great crowd for this one!

Well the South Stand Block F is sold out, as I just tried to buy one. I shall instead be joining the 'singers', abusing the stewards in 'H'.

pre-christmas games on a friday night usually result in a good atmosphere and are pretty eventful - should be a good one

Wot - no season ticket ?

Nope. Last season was the first without one. Out of the six of us that sat together when we first started at Withdean, I'm the only one left regularly going now, so go with a mate and we buy tickets game by game.

Fair enough - the numbers did drop somewhat.

As far as December goes, it's a condition of playing at Withdean, innit?

The council don't want too many Saturday home games in the run up to Christmas as it would cause havoc with the shoppers' park & ride, not to mention the traffic in the area (although OBVIOUSLY people don't drive to Withdean, do they...).

Who cares, evening games usually have a better atmosphere for some reason.

yes, because we're the only city that has shops and offers a park and ride system.

The former council officer who set up the Withdean shopper's park and ride scheme writes ...

P&R gets incredibly busy at Withdean in the run up to Christmas - especially on Saturdays (and has done since it first started, back in the early 1990s). And it takes a lot of pressure off the city centre car parks at the time when they are at their busiest.

Don't whinge about the shoppers' park & ride - it was the budget for P&R that paid for the demolition of the old tennis stadium (where the South Stand entrance is now). If that hadn't happened, the Football Club would have had to pay a fortune to get the site into shape to allow the Albion to return to Brighton in 1999.

In the same way that it's the rules about sitting down, one of the rules about Withers is no Saturday games in December. Just accept it and move on.

Better that than the 100 mile trek to Gillingham every fortnight.

We are also the only city that has a directors suite that doubles us as a creche. I look forward to hearing about Roman Abramovich sitting on a stray block of lego or a transformer.*

Lord B - You were responsible for the destruction of the old tennis centre? I was born a stones throw away from Withdean stadium and was brought up there. Can anyone confirm whether there was a large fire at some point? My folks don't seem to remember, but I am positive this was the case.

* Assuming we beat Mansfield and draw Chelsea at some point.

Clearly not.

But the park & ride system was in place at Withdean (very successfully) a long time before the Albion were, therefore we're hardly in a position to dictate to the council what they can and cannot do with it.

And, unlike many cities, our P&R is based smack in the middle of a leafy residential area, as opposed to on a city-edge industrial estate, so adding 5-6000 football fans into the mix was unlikely to ever be popular with city planners.

If you want to sit in a queue for an hour to get anywhere near Withdean on a Saturday in the run up to Christmas, be my guest. I, and I'm sure plenty of others, are quite happy with the odd Friday night game.
