For Those That Think Dick Tight Has Got No Money

When the original post is "dick knight has money, look he said I made an offer" yes, it does matter. But as has been pointed out to me, I missed the tongue in cheek nature of the OP.

If DK is the member of the club actually doing the negotiating and making the offer, isn't he entitled to say 'I'?

Has he ever said that it's his money?

My view of this is yet again Dick Knight spin. Do you remember the many hundred thousand bid for Leon Constantine??

Saying we have put in a bid for a player suggests we are doing something. Given Dick Knight's failure to persuade Anyinsah to come to the club and pay him properly I would be amazed if he can persuade McNulty who as others have said would be able to get a Championship move I would have thought. And why would he leave Stockport for us anyway? Sadly with us at the foot of the table I would have thought there are much better prospects, unless we are going to pay him more than anyone else, which we all know is not going to happen. Just more DK spin I fear, but would love to be wrong.

The original poster said that dick knight using the term I shows he has money, because it his his own money he is investing.

I was making it clear that Dick Knight often says I because he means 'I, as Chairman of the board of directors, representing the club and the investors...' and that his use of the term I in the quote provided by the original poster is most likely this same type of I and in no way indicated that it was Dick Knight's own money.

That is why my first response was important. Because it clarified exactly what you're trying to argue with me!

But it turns out the original poster was being somewhat sarcastic, and I missed that. There's every chance you're being sarcastic and I'm missing it because I'm flitting on here between tasks at work. But I don't care anymore...

All he's said is that we have put in a bid, he doesn't say who. How is that spin?

Potentially it suggests the club is putting in bids if £150k plus, when potentially they have no real intention of spending it, because they know they can't agree with terms with the player.

Sorry, but I don't want to know about failed bids, just tell us when you sign them please.

Potentially? Suggests? They are your words not his. It sounds to me that you want these negotiations to fail so you can moan about it.

I agree with you about not wanting to hear anything until players are signed, but when he says nothing many people complain about us not being told what's going on. He can't win can he? I suppose that's good if you don't want him to.

I am happy for him to win and will be delighted if we sign McNulty as he is a good prospect. I'm not anti Knight, but completely fed up with disappointment in the transfer window. Therefore I have come to expect little in the hope that I will be pleasantly surprised.

Fair enough. I would hate to be in the club's position when it comes to the transfer window because the fans' demands are fuelled by overly-high expectation coupled with a depressingly low grip on reality.

Or is that Giraffe spin?

I love this fact that a player chooses to play for someone when they don't have to uproot their lives is dismissed as 'failure'. Bearing in mind also that Carlisle had effectively closed the deal with Preston before he returned home, YOU try getting a player to shift their entire life 300 miles when he can get the same deal on his doorstep.

To be fair to Knight when there were no rumours people complained that we weren't doing anything and now he says something (and he mentioned no names just that bids had been put in) he gets stick too.

Part of the fun of the transfer window for a lot of fans is hearing rumours about new players and, after a quiet period, I think it is quite exciting to be linked with someone. I agree McNulty probably won't sign for us but you never know.

He's a midfielder.

Incidentally how was the Leon Constantine offer spin? Did we give him a backhander to say that we offered him a very good deal?

The club did make a statement to say they'd offered him a decent deal. I seem to recall that when we were after him, Port Vale were doing quite well, and he wanted to see that through - could be wrong though. After that, no idea.

And that is the crux of the argument.

The expectations on here are unbelievable. This isn't the Premiership.
