The club did make a statement to say they'd offered him a decent deal. I seem to recall that when we were after him, Port Vale were doing quite well, and he wanted to see that through - could be wrong though. After that, no idea.
Not the club, I remember him saying himself that what we offered him was very good. He was on a free at the end of the season and wanted to try and get into the Championship I seem to recall (which he didn't).

Enquiries flood in
Simon Smedley

COUNTY boss Jim Gannon is anticipating a hectic few weeks as he continues to remould his squad during the current transfer window.

None of the club’s prized assets have left Edgeley Park yet, but that situation is sure to change before the January 31 deadline.

Gannon said: "There have been lots of enquiries, and the odd offer for certain players, but so far none have been suitable for either the club or the player concerned.

"I’m sure several clubs will be homing in on some of our players over the coming week or so though.

"With all the players set to be coming in and going out of the club, off the training pitch it’s certainly going to be a difficult and demanding period for me.

"I have got a further three loan signings lined up to join us, but whether they do come in now depends on which players leave the club."

Two players have left County during the last week, as well as one of the backroom staff.

After making 120 County appearances, midfielder Jason Taylor has joined Rotherham United on a free transfer.

He has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Millers.

Young defender Gianluca Havern, who scored the winning goal against Brentford last May in his only senior County outing, has been released.

He looks likely to be joining Mansfield Town having gone to Field Mill on trial this week.

Goalkeeping coach Dave Felgate has also left County, and has taken up a full-time position with Manchester City’s Academy.

Jim McNulty, Owain fon Williams, Michael Rose, Gareth Owen and James Tunnicliffe continue to be linked with moves away from Edgeley Park.

Meanwhile, Gannon had a few minor injury worries to contend with ahead of last night’s trip to Swindon.

Striker Peter Thompson [illness] and wide-man Leon McSweeney [ankle] didn’t travel, while Owen has picked up a hamstring strain.

New loan signings Robbie Threlfall and Dave Mooney were both set to feature in the County 16

to quote the man himself in todays paper

"Without divulging names, I have substantial offers for two players lodged with their clubs and, with one of the clubs, I have agreed transfer terms."

£150,000 for Jimmy McNulty being the believed fee

To quote Harty on Scr after Dicks 5 Player announcement last transfer window.
