MOTD thought Utter got it wrong again.

Clearly mistaken identity.

Wasn't though, was it.

Dean gave the foul as a trip, or similar, from Dunk not the forearm smash from Bissouma.

Struggling to understand the claim Dunk didn't know he had been booked though...

Dean clearly didn't show the yellow to Bissouma. Now Dunk may have not have known he had been carded, but it was clear to most who Dean was showing the card to, and it wasn't Bissouma.

If Dunk didn't know he had been booked, he'd have been somewhat perplexed at the second yellow resulting in a red card and surely he'd have queried what was going on, instead of immediately walking off in a resigned fashion.

Just seen this on twitter. Sums up the arrogance of the man really- willing to bet after the Boro game there might be a bit of history with Dunk and The Complete And Utter Shyster and that he was buzzing to be able to send him off today. ****.

Dunky would never say that, it must have been "stupid person".

Nah, he wouldn't have gone down that wishy-washy PC route ....... and I'm sure he wouldn't have gone down the unacceptable sexist route of 'Stupid woman' either - he plays for a decent, well adjusted club like Brighton, and we don't do that sort of Neanderthal sh*t.

My guess is, 'Stupid c**t'........................

As ever, I have no idea what your problem is, but do you really think the Premier League have a system in place whereby TV companies and their commentators are fed official refereeing decisions from the horse's mouth?

Those TV companies that have slow-mo footage from about 10 different angles of every incident and can then dissect that referee's decision and make him look an absolute arse when this "official" reason is wrong.

Tell me how this system works with, please, with a few links to the Premier League describing it.

I refer you to post 47.

There must be some sort of link between the officials and the TV lot - because the TV lot confirm who it is who has been booked, when it isn't immediately obvious from watching the match. That is - how did they know it was Dunk who was booked without being told by someone in the official's camp, because you couldn't tell at the time. And if they confirm the name, surely they may well also confirm the reason?

They get confirmation without a doubt, even if 5/10 minutes later.

This is interesting because during the commentary for the lunchtime game..R5 quoted the reason for a particular booking as confirmed by the PL and that was a few minutes after the card was shown...make of that what you will

It means that media doesn't get confirmation and Bozza is correct. :ffsparr:

Not the first time he’s sent an Albion player off erroneously but then he is seen as one of the worst refs in the Premier league by plenty of fans of other clubs. Sooner the **** retires the better

I think it was the co-commentator on NBC Gold that said he doesn't like Dean. Or was it on the Stelling show? Someone did anyway, an ex pro.

MOTD quite clear that Mike Dean got it wrong - but somehow there is no outrage, as I'm sure there would have been if it was a 'big;' club that had suffered as a result of incompetence. Do we have any option to request that Mike Dean never be allowed near any match in which we are involved ever again? - he clearly seems dedicated to f*****g itup against us.

I have no idea why the yellow was given, but neither do the commentators. They might be right. They might be wrong. But the point is they do not know due to some inside knowledge.

This is partly true - they would not necessarily get all the information routinely about a foul. But the referee DOES relay at the very least who’s been booked to the 4th official as they also keep track. And the TV floor manager at every game works alongside the 4th official - obtaining clarification on some issues as well as relaying information about who’s being substituted/amount of time added on etc in advance, allowing graphics to be prepared and the commentator to be primed. It’s pretty standard, for instance, for the floor manager to check who’s been booked so the yellow card graphic is correct.

Seems pretty clear from MOTD. From the ref's view point, it looks as though Dunkey has caught Brooks with his elbow or upper arm. This happened in a split second and he had no complaints and no VAR. Does he really deserve to be called a shyster? Bissouma was the villain of the piece.

Pictures weren't supposed to come out like! The order should be left to right, so how do you get them to display in landscape using Android phone?

According to the post match dressing room, the idiot ref didn't make it clear who had been booked.

just a woeful day at the office from us .....we are still lacking any real quality , undone by a lad who looks like he hasn't started shaving yet..........we had a go and it wasn't good enough .....Dunk now suspended .....shit start to christmas fixtures for us. Bissouma will be in constant strife with refs if he's going to be carrying on like that and Propper needs a rocket up him for allowing Brooks to score the first .......he tracked him for 20 mrs or so then gave up giving him a sight at goal , that's just sheer laziness.

I know he showed the card to Dunk. That's not the issue. The issue is Dean clearly thought the foul had been committed by Dunk, not Bissouma. Dunk didn't touch the player, did he? The smash to the back of the head was the foul and was clearly a bookable offence. Dean just got the wrong player. The MOTD pundits also assessed it the same.

Its a bit like how they confirm who a goal has been credited to when there been a deflection etc
