Ten years ago today, we weren't bothered by such things, as we welcomed Northwich Victoria to Withdean for an FA Cup First Round tie.

The team was:

Kuipers
Mayo
Butters
Hinshelwood
Lynch
El Abd
Hammond
Fraser
Robinson
Revell
Cox

Subs:
Gatting
Rents
Santos
Frutos
Sullivan

Albion 8 (Cox 2, Robinson 3, Revell, Gatting, Rents)
Northwich Victoria 0

Where are all those players now ?

Half of them must have retired ?

Sat in the hospital listening to that on headphones whilst my wife was in labour. She got well irritated.

Six of them haven't, perhaps surprisingly - so not quite half have retired:-

El Abd and Revell have both scored recently (see Goal of the Month competition for El Abd's effort!);
Lynch is at QPR, Hammond at Sheff. Utd.
Cox and Fraser just up the road at Burgess Hill.

Think the rest have probably retired though.

11 of the squad had come through the youth team - that won't happen again

The women demand so much from us. Giving up football while they go through labour! How could they?

A fantastic match complete with a Jakey Robinson hat-trick, I was there in the Family Stand. They stuck the Northwich Victoria fans in the Family Stand section to the south next to us and there was one fat drunk Northwich Victoria fan who thought he was hilarious with references to bum sex and Brighton fans, and he was starting to get on our nerves when my son stood on his chair pointed at the bloke and shouted "You're too ugly to be gay". That shut him up, there's no coming back from a 7 year old telling you that.

Jake Robinson is at Hemel Hempstead. Alex Revell is at Northampton.
