I find it strange how we all know the wage structure of pretty much every footballer in the Premiership but I wouldn't have a clue how much our players are on. Does anyone else have a clue??
It seems to be kept so hush hush in the lower leagues for some reason.

our players are on anything between £1,000-£12,000 per week i'd imagine. with most being between £1,000-£5,000. vicente and CMS will be our top earners. i cannot believe they are on nearer £20,000 unless i see some proof! we don't earn millions and millions like the prem teams do through tv deals!

someone on £12,000 a week would earn £624,000 in a year.

... Well, it is our business if its the fans paying the wages Mr Smggles. I for one certainly wouldn't be happy if Vicente was on £20,000!!

Very clear that Vicente and CMS will be our highest paid players (not sure whether we're paying a percentage of Harper/Jara Reyes', who I assume are on a fair wedge at Prem clubs) but if anyone else was on more than 5-6k a week I would be blown away.

Do you know how much people are earning in your local shops ? You "pay" their wages too. I wonder whether Sky get them faxed over as well, because they contribute too.

Seriously, I do think it's the responsibility of fans to keep a very close eye on the finances of their club irrespective of how queasy that makes Tony feel. History tells us that owners often take their eye off the ball.

..but, I'm not particular interested in the salary of an individual. The figures bandied about are undoubtedly widely inaccurate and the way they are actually constructed quite complex.

I'd imagine the figures are often "leaked" by clubs who failed in a transfer bid. The figure being the number quoted by the agent.

I know for a FACT that Rickie Lambert at Southampton is paid £6k a week plus a £1k per goal bonus. When Leeds tried to sign him last year, they refused to match his wages. When Lambert didn't drop his demands, Ken Bates published his salary details in the match programme the following week.

Only because the media are obsesed it with, and then mostly it's guestimate by them. I don't really think it's anyones elses business except the player and the club (unless the club is publicly listed)

I am not interested in individual wages but fans should know about the overall wage bill. It is important to have information about the club's financial sustainability in the future.

CMS won't be on that much. Barry Fry also said that West Ham and Leicester also offered more to Club and Player for him but he was impressed by club and Gus so wanted to come here.

Exactly what I was going to say, thanks Clapham! How about when you go to the theatre, do you want to know the salary of each actor? Or perhaps you go and see your favourite band play at Wembley Arena, do you feel you need to know what cut of the ticket sales they take?

I'm not convinced that we do know what Premiership players are on. The media tell us what they think, but most of teh time I bet that's not much more than a guess. In teh lower Leagues, teh media are just not bothered about even guessing.
