Football managers' contracts

Football managers can't really lose once they have a decent contract. If Adams really is on 4K a week on a three year contract, he isn't going to walk even if we go to the bottom of the table. Assuming things don't improve the only way he's going to go is if we pay him off because he's not going to be head hunted Harry Rednapp style is he. I see Dean Wilkins in the pub sometimes, he hardly seems distraught. I imagine his pride is bit dented but 3 grand a week for the next 20 months for doing nothing will help him to get over that. Were we to get rid of Adams we could be paying out £350K a year to ex managers.

I don't suppose Ramos, Poyet et al are worrying about how they are going to pay the mortgage next month either. They say being a football manager is a precarious position but it must be one of the few jobs where you get rewarded for not performing.

Guess you can add players to the list. Savage - two and a half years at £25K+ a week.

Don't be too ready to overlook the career aspects. Getting the elbow after achieving little, can be damning enough. Then sitting around languishing in the income assured for months-into-years hardly bodes well for a league future, with competition ever growing and for a few clubs with need.
