Probably not if Merkel is to be believed today about relaxing lockdown too soon.

You see, the Germans always go too early. Always get cocky and want to open up a second front. Just wait and see. A top side playing an away game somewhere like BoRussia (gedditt??) Munchengladbag and one of theirs goes down with Covid and they will be all over the shop, and in retreat.

And I'm not actually joking. They have overdiagnosed, while keeping actual cases and associated mortality down by being very dutiful and careful and having better healthcare than us. Once they start poncing around in their safe standing stadia, it will bit them on the bum.

Yes, yes, yes, football is dead - never to return in its previous form but will Mike Dean refuse to retire in order to have his well-earned victory lap. And will the remaining old people finally be apologised to for the theft of their flasks. There is much of football before covid that I'd be happy to see swept away. And hasn't it been a relief not to hear the three initials of VAR for the last few weeks ?

whatever happens, if games resume they are going to be very high scoring if the players have to maintain 2 metres apart. Imagine, player kicks off, runs towards the goals, everyone jumps out of the way..shoots, goal 1-0 and only 15 seconds on the clock. Will be much more like basketball on grass as a zero contact sport :)

They will finish 19/20 at some time behind closed doors with pay per view on each game. I am sure season 20/21 will be cancelled and the earliest I expect to see a game again at the Amex is August 2021 and that might be optimistic

I expect it will be the othere way round, with 19/20 to be cancelled, with 20/21 being a full season behind closed doors.

I think your right. Its a lot cheaper to cancel 9 games than 36.

I can also see season ticket holders (or registered fans) having special access to live streamed games (bit like I-follow) while the premier League still giving Sky and BT sports choices to games for everyone else.

In a pile of football shirts
South Koreas K-League starts on 8th May, they have agreed to reduce the K League for 1 season from 38 matches to about 27(22+5) matches. Initially games to be played behind closed doors.

It's been pretty obvious for some time that there will be no competitive football for months and possibly years. Many people have just stuck their heads in the sand hoping it will all go away and of course the various worldwide and national associations have tried to put an optimistic spin on things with contingency plans covering the next few months. But, as Chris Whitty said yesterday, the UK will need social distancing at least until the end of the year.

Not obvious to the PL fat cats I'm afraid. They want their pound of flesh, well tv money

I wonder if it would open up the possibility of someone sueing if they caught it of the back of the relaxation. In this day and age Lawyers will deem somebody culpable
