Foods the world would be better without

I apologise for ending title with a preposition.

Having just eaten a piece of excellent fruit cake ruined by the addition of Glacé Cherries, I wondered what other foodstuffs are completely without merit.

For me:-

Glacé Cherries, tasteless with a thoroughly unpleasant texture
Celery, hated ever since it was slipped into school salads when I was 6. I thought it was going to be lettuce. That was 63 years ago
Couscous. I don't think anything needs to be said.

Couscous. I don't think anything needs to be said.

Fundamental food in my daughter's recovery from anorexia, so I beg to differ. Couscous offers us something different, is easy to prepare and you can combine it with a whole variety of stuff. Those who dismiss it probably don't cook with it.

My mother-in-law makes it EVERY Christmas, even though everyone hates it. Don't try to deny that you hate it as well, because I won't believe you.

Some of my favourite foods here: I love mushrooms probably more than any other foodstuff (although beetroot runs it close) My ultimate comfort food is couscous and I really like celery.

And I love Christmas pudding so much, I've been known to eat it as Easter

I must say that I'm not fond of iceberg lettuce. There are fantastically tasty lettuces around and yet cafes seem to think iceberg is the only variety: it's always too cold and tastes of blotting paper
