Absolutely anything with mushrooms in it. When I lived alone and the g/f was a visitor rather than a joint owner of our house, I wouldn't even let them into my flat uncooked - can't stand them.

I have to leave the kitchen if they're being cooked 'coz the smell makes me gag too. Disgusting things.

Anything tasting of aniseed too - how anybody would choose to ingest that flavour is completely beyond me...

You'd love my Sunday night supper (bivied on Firle Beacon walking the South Downs Way)

I ate some less that wonderful things in the Philippines but the worst thing I ever had was in Oklahoma. It was in some fish and chip specialty chain restaurant although the name escapes me. The fish was dry and bland and the chips just plain nasty. What was so strange about it is that I doubt that anywhere else in the world does better fast food than the Americans.

Suffice to say when you walked out there was a large bell that you were supposed to ring to show your appreciation. I was asked if I wanted to ring it but I declined. I then asked them where the fog horn was. They asked why, I said well I thought it might warn people off the disaster they called food.

I can't eat cabbage or cauliflower because the smell makes me gag - can't even be at the same table as someone eating them.

Food nightmares were boiled pig brains which I had to eat once as a guest at a feast in the pyrenees and dog in korea - on both occasions I couldn't get out of it. The texture of the first was disgusting - the second didn't really taste too bad but the thought made me heave for ages afterwards.

More mundane is greasy fish batter (and KFC for the same reason)

Easy did you go to Mile Oak Primary as I recall a Joanne Patching.
Yes. Yes I did.
Although the incident I referred to actually happened at Lower School (which is now the 6th Form) in the Old Village. Her best friend was Sarah Wills, who I used to fancy.

On separate occasions my parents made meals of Tripe, and Brawn. I think it was to show how easy we had it compared to them (something familiar to most parents).

They were both absolutely disgusting. Brawn looks disgusting. The texture of thet ripe made you gag. It was horrible.

I like brawn. Not that pink gunk they serve on the Sainsburys deli, mind. The proper BROWN brawn with bits of eye and brain and jellied skull. My dear old nan used to boil up a LOVELY pigs head, god rest her soul. Sprinkle with salt and serve during Match of the Day. Glorious.

Miso soup. Don't eat it just cos it's good for you, it tastes rank.

Sprouts are great with a cheese sauce. Like Cauliflower cheese, but with sprouts.

Fried are not too bad if you close your eyes, crispy and the smell is almost obliterated.

No, believe me I am not that squeamish but to see these grinning Filipinos snacking down of that stuff make me queasy even now. Thankfully most of the ingredients of Filipino cooking are not available here. She is actually watching the BBC to learn how to cook British food.

Now if only I could make sure hat she never sees a karaoke machine ............

I had dog paw soup in the Philippines once. Not bad, but they overdid the tamarind a little.

The only real problem with dog is it makes your breath stink for a while afterwards. Bring mints if someone invites you for a dog dinner.

I'm trying to find a link to some American ready meal. It's called the Big One or something like that.

Over 200% of the RDA of saturated fats. Ring any bells anyone?

How has a food hell thread got to page 2 without mention of Withdean Burgers?

Rustlers have a product called "The big one". It's some kind of microwave burger. Never tried one, the whole concept seems a bit vile.
