There is a local dish in Madeira called Espada Com Banana, it is a fillet of deep fried Black Scabbard Fish ( Espada ) served with grilled bananas with a banana sauce. It shouldn't work but it does, very tasty in fact !

Stilton, grape and walnut in a granary sandwich or my personal favourite, Vegemite ( not marmite, sorry ) and sliced banana on toast...Yum!

Anything fermented/yeast based will enhance a protien rich product. Marmite,Alcohol, bovril, soy sauce, worcester sauce, oyster sauce etc.

Its something acidic added to something oily/fat, balanced and aids digestion. No different to cheese and onion, sounds pretty good TBH.

I stew rhubarb with sugar, which sweetens it, much like plums.
