According to Transfermarkt (no idea how reliable that is, but lots of people seem to use/quote it), Andone's agent (or agency) has no other players in England, but quite a lot at top clubs around Europe.

Could it be as simple as the agent being able to work this move to Galatasary, Andone fancying it and asking for it (I would imagine it feels a little more glamorous to a lot of players than Brighton), and the club feeling that it's not worth saying no and having a player who doesn't want to be here (perhaps combined with the fact there are question marks over his attitude in general)? I can't imagine there was some sort of master plan to offload Andone so late, or that one red card (as ridiculous as it was) has prompted such a strong reaction from the club. Equally it doesn't seem that likely that Connolly has totally changed Potter's mindset in the last few days.

Yes, I was thinking about this too. If a club the stature of Galataseray comes knocking, with the chance of trophies, adoration and European football, as opposed to a season long relegation schlep, perhaps Andone was eager for this to happen. The club may simply have been unable to change his mind and have reluctantly let him go

That does not mean he is ready for it.

I guess that is why we've employed a manager with a great reputation of bringing young players through.

Daniel James didn't get a start pre-Potter at Swansea. Shrewsbury Town didn't even give him a start when on loan the year before GP got hold of him. He is now Man Utd's top scorer.

Not really mate. He has to do a job and score goals. That will be end of, until he does that it is NOT 'end of'. Surely you can see that. A player is not ready just because he plays..he has to do something when he gets there.

He was told to get ready and get on. He did.

I wouldn't call that 'plenty' for Mr Hughton and his style of play, let alone an attack minded, keep ball, expansive manager like G-Pot.

Hurry up and get another job Chris then some posters can move on , hopefully, probably not ,possibly (not you stat) you know the one's.

Well he's suspended for three games now so there is that. Another red card seems him out of a large proportion of the season and there's a good change of that.

It was effectively 4 games (30 mins) ruined my day. He could have had the decency to get sent off after 80 mins ffs.

I'm not comfortable with this at all. For us to bin off Andone, there must be more to it than meets the eye. Whatever way you look at it, this cuts down our options and leaves us crossing our fingers that Murray doesn't get crocked - yep, we're very much relying on Old Man Murray cutting the mustard AGAIN for at least half a season till we get to January. I wasn't too bothered about losing Locadia as he's rarely looked up to it, but christ, I never believed Murray would be the main man again this year.

We certainly don't yet know if Maupay will manage to make the step-up, so for our only other striker to be a wet-behind-the-ears kid, promising though he may be, looks like folly to me. Time will tell I suppose, but this decision has plenty of potential to properly bite us on the arse IMO.

Can anybody explain why clicking on the tiny arrow in the post below transports you to a 2005 thread that neither of us has posted on??

Well actually, no I don't. I suspect you are one of those disgusting people who spit their gum out onto the pavement, making it impossible to remove without specialist equipment.

No I don’t do that at all. I was just generalising upon modern society, and not condoning such foul behaviour at all. The expression “as you do” is a modern colloquialism for ‘as so often seems to be the case...’.

Wow that was a shock! If its because of his attitude (remember his strop with Barnardo?) then support Potter all the way. personally its great cos I still get to see Andone very week.... and I cant wait to see how quickly Turkish referees cotton on and start sending him off!

Look, we've just saved at least half a season's wages on him and we'll go into the market with a bigger warchest. No worries.

What is?
Lifelong Supporter said it doesn't mean he's ready for it, I'm just saying our manager is using his judgement to say he is. No guarantee GP is right, but it's that kind of judgement and decision making we're paying him for.

Neither striker released was prolific last season. I suspect that was down to tactics and chances created. The question really is would they have scored goals given more chances and would Trossard Connelly etc scored from the same chances. I would suggest the answer would have been yes. This season we will create more chances I am not convinced either Locadia and Andone would have put the ball in the net any more than who Potter plays in that role going forward. Locadia in particular was played in the wide role last season so surely he has to be counted as the same as Trossard in that role. For me it is all about the chances we create. Not about Locadia and Andone being those that convert those chances both showed little as being prolific in the premier league. We have other better technical players that are better than them that can get those goals. People have complained about Locadia and Andone on here saying they are not good enough. Suddenly they are wetting themselves about them being allowed to leave. I prefer to leave it to TB and GP to make those decisions.

Unfortunately, we were all crying out for the window to close prior to the season, but this is the danger when you close your window before everyone else does, and exist very much in a European (if not global) transfer market. Obviously we could have said no, and must have been relatively willing to let him go, but I reckon he's had his head turned.
