Five on list for England Manager job

From Sporting Life:

... Brian Barwick has reportedly drawn up a shortlist of five candidates to succeed Steve McClaren as England boss.

The FA chief executive is believed to have completed his consultation process and must now decide which of the candidates should be approached first, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper reports that although no one has been directly approached or offered the job, four "live" candidates who are interested and available are in the running
....

So if the 4 "live" candidates are Jose Mourinho, Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi and Jurgen Klinsmann_ who is the "dead" one? I'm going for Alf Ramsey- could do a job- has done a job- and surely must be better than MacClaren?

So it's taken how long to get this magic list? Could Barwick not just have looked on Ladbrokes 2 days after sacking McClown and taken the top five names off of there? Would have saved a lot of f***ing about. What a ****.

I have always thought that Brian Barwick looks like a cross between my old friend Rene and Obelix (from Asterix fame).

I can't believe that this man commands such a high salary for apparently being hideously vexed when it comes to recruitment which seems to be his most important role.

We must be an absolute laughing stock in World Football.

Can you imagine the German Football Federation 'consulting' Bobby Charlton when they are looking for a new coach for the National Team?

No, because the people in charge in Germany (Like Beckenbauer) are real football people, not like the group of bumbling old FOOLS in charge here.

Wankers

To be fair to the fat slaphead he does an excellent job selling English football to TV companies at home and abroad and generates a huge amount of revenue for the FA. He should delegate football matters to football people though, the power trip has gone to his head.

Er... I don't think Barwick has too much to do with the Premier League.

He's a football man, get off his case and let him get on with his job of recruiting a world class England manager.

The negativity towards England never stops.

....and how much has he cost the FA in pay offs to the last two managers and lost revenue with respect to not qualifying for Euro 2008?

Come on own up, what is your connection with slaphead or the FA because there obviously is one.

Agreed, the man should leave football matters well alone and concentrate on what he is good at. One respected study put the cost to the UK economy of the England team not qualifying for Euro 2008 at £1 billion.

..to be fair it is pretty irrelevent who is in charge. It wont make ever decreasing pool of English players any bigger or better. It will take more than a change of manager to change England's fortunes.

Berwick reminds me of a mulit miliionaire Construction boss from Australia, who was either implicated in giving people concrete boots and loads of dodgy deals, or was found guilty...wish I could remember his name and look it all up - annoying me now!!

Ah, fair enough. But that's Mickey Mouse money compared with the Premier League.

True. But selling England and FA cup games to the Asian market for the best part of £150m is a bloody good deal. That is obviously not the total figure, add in domestic live and highlight packages and other global markets (US, Europe etc) and it is very good business. No wonder they can pay off McClown without a second thought to the cost.
