I personally think it'll be good, American humour is completely different to ours but look at the success of all their comedy movies, I know it's slightly different but when they have geeky people in films it's funny, I dont know if anyone's seen Superbad with Mclovin in but I found it hilarious.

Pure class

Then those that don't ... don't! No big deal, leave them alone. We haven't taken Cheers, got a relatively solid audience, and then thought, "naah, let's make Sam Malone a former Kent bowler, and give him a wine bar in Chatham."

How very true. IMHO Cheers is the greatest American comedy series ever. Had the misfortune once to see an American remake of Fawlty Towers, appropriately named "Payne". It was.

UK Friends They live in a penthouse flat in the Argus Lofts - Phoebe works in The Bead Shop in The Laines, Ross works at the Pavillion Museum shop, Joey has a bit part on Doctors etc.

"Coupling" was the English version of "Friends" and it was funnier and much ruder. And it had Gina Bellman in it.

The American remake of the IT Crowd: Exactly the same script and yet somehow utterly awful.

Yes, look at everything else they made. The Office stuck to British comedy style, Top Gear and the rest tried to be 'American'. Which is really simplistic comedy.

I actually thought the American Office only got good once it had stopped trying to remake the British episodes (I love both of them btw)

Most Americans don't get the English humor.. they will just dumb it all down and add some fart noises.

isn't that the way the British Inbetweeners went?

Infact the last series and the movie reminded me very much of American Movie comedies.

Was? Its still going strong and is by far superior to the Original!

Wow. Just... Wow.

The thing about the American Office is, like many US comedies, it just tries too hard to be funny. Gervais et al made it look so effortless.

I agree about the US comedy statement, but I wouldn't include the American Office in that. Matter of opinion I guess.

The Troubadour
whats there equivelent to wanker that is the main part of the series the word wanker

........and Clunge.

It'll be shite...............the Americans will love it though. They have to remake it for their audience as unless it's Hugh Grant they cant grasp the accent.

I'm actually looking forward to watching it. Just to see if it's gonna be a massive fail or a success.

Gervais is a co-producer of the American version too.
Yeah but that doesn't mean it hasn't been massively dumbed down for the American audience. Although the original Office and Extras were genius, he has made his fair share of crap (American) films.

Will they get the US cast to shoot it in Littlehampton? We can all go and watch them cock it up first hand.

to be fair the actor playing Moss looks and sounds exactly the same.......... oh!

in all seriousness, that is shocking...... it's like a hot girl you know going to the states for summer, then coming back a twat.

The americans just strip the humour out of everything.

Loo what they did to Spaced...

oh good Christ, why for the love of God, WHY!?!

Please rename this the thread of heartbreak, some of the things in life that actually mean something to me and give me joy shat on!

If they've done a Father Ted remake I'll be livid! (Father Ben anyone?)
