FFS, why don't they just watch the original?

Some of them do, and they absolutely love it. Unfortunately, there's many that don't.

I cannot see some of the humour working for the yanks especially with all the sexual explisive, I know they liked the office and as someone else posted top gear, I saw their version of both and they were awful!!!

Saying that their version of shameless, although no where near as good as ours wasnt bad, I only saw a few they kept the boobs in it which shocked me and stayed very close to the original script

Then those that don't ... don't! No big deal, leave them alone. We haven't taken Cheers, got a relatively solid audience, and then thought, "naah, let's make Sam Malone a former Kent bowler, and give him a wine bar in Chatham."

The German re-make of The Office (called Stromberg) is on its tenth series apparently.

Jees, they must have played those jokes to DEATH long ago.

Credit to Gervais and Merchant, I thought they got it about right over here. They didn't flog it to death, it was still funny to the last, but I thought you could see it didn't have much left. I thought that was the brilliance of him telling Finchy to "f*** Off" at the end, because that was him (and perhaps us) tiring of Finchy's humour.

No doubt each series will have about 25 episodes and they will have run out of ideas by about episode 14.

Their remake of The Office was a massive success.

Quite, and they did "Life on Mars" too, which I thought was very good, although it only made 2 series there before it was stopped.

Don't forget they tried to remake Doctor Who as well way back in 1996 with the movie! (was going to become a series)

and of course they are making a Doctor Who movie soon which will have no british stars in it.

I personally think it'll be good, American humour is completely different to ours but look at the success of all their comedy movies, I know it's slightly different but when they have geeky people in films it's funny, I dont know if anyone's seen Superbad with Mclovin in but I found it hilarious.

Pity it wasn't done by HBO or Showtime. They already have a crossover with quite a few British comedies and as they are subscriber channels there is no problem with language or nudity.
