Just goes to show how out of touch the industry body is.

This will end with no frills service at current pricing but reduced frequency and worse delay issues as these trains presumably would lose signalling priority over the first class services ....

....which would be massively overpriced half empty and white elephant in nature.

If they think large corporates spend on exclusive or business class travel willy-nilly they’re wrong.

The rail industry stuck in the 70’s more than a line flares with pockets in the knees.

Just shows why the whole rail system in the UK is broken.

So for no frills service, out goes cloth seats to be replaced by hard plastic seats with next to no leg room. Additional charges for large bags that need to be stored in the reintroduced guards van. The Brighton to London no frill service stops at all stations and goes via Littlehampton, Horsham and Redhill, and costs £30 off peak.

Meanwhile the first class option runs on the main line, and has soft comfy seats with lots of leg room, a table with plug in points for laptops, tablets, mobiles, etc with a free strong wi-fi service for the whole journey with free drinks and nibbles brought to the individual during the journey and no restrictions on baggage,, and costs £100 off peak.

All which will mean that if you want to use a train for any Saturday away game you will probably need to leave on lunchtime Friday to arrive home Sunday teatime.

left me wondering if anyone from RDG actually uses the trains. Southern along with neighbours South Eastern and South Western are already no frills. I believe c2c in essex is similar. meanwhile the standards of these railways, Virgin upto Scotland is first class only. theres the issue, differnet levels of service due to distance/travel frequency. nothing will change, they just say it has and put a few posters up to say so.

Don’t think it’s just the rail system
The whole country every department is behind times , become a third world country when it come to sorting anything out . By the time Heathrow gets its runway China would of built a bloody airport

and a first class ticket wouldn't be so you had more seating space, it would be so you had a train to catch. Terrible idea.

I'd love to write 'unbelievable' at this news, sadly my actual response is:-

'Blimey what took them so long'.
