For some bizarre reason it was Northampton away in 1976 or 77. Went on the Seagulls special, then on a bus from the station to the ground, singing about Henry Boot who had some advertising about whatever he owned in the town. The ground had three sides for fans and a rope on the other one separating it from the county cricket club. Won 2-0, I think Tiger Towner got one, and some locals went round the back of our stand and lobbed bricks at us, friendly chaps. Totally hooked by the whole experience, led to many memorable Seagull special trips to obscure northern and midland towns.

not my first, but went to northampton for aleague cup game around 79,poskett got the winner, yeah totally bizarre the rope down one side, remember seeing the county ground on the 40 overs sunday afternoon league

anyway, after the game, had no trouble with northampton, but a group of around 20 with, what seemed like jumpers with man utd badge on it,giving us verbal pointing to the badge, with reference to our forthcoming visit to old trafford

14 years old 90/91 season, I wanted to go to Anfield for cup game but wasn't allowed as my Mum thought there would be trouble. So had to wait for slightly later that season. Yep first ever away match was Millwall away play-off semi second leg we won 2-1. Remember hugging some random stranger when we took the lead and trouble in the home end. Coppers helmets being set on fire, Millwall tipping over some of the wheel chairs with supporters still in. Think was my worst view of an away match except possibly Burnden Park

I remember a large pitch invasion at the end by Brighton fans charging down the ground to the Chesterfield end.

yeah, got in the ground early and the chesterfield end emptied quite a few times, lucky enough to see the brighton team coach arrive,no bullshit, nobby horton looked right at me and i punched my fist in the air and he just smiled,as if to say "i know son" f***ing legend

I remember this one. My mate seemed the only Brighton fan to get thumped that day after he charged onto the pitch at final whistle then carried on into their end in celebration, decided to carry on celebrating through their stand into the street outside not realising he was alone. The celebrating Albion fans still on the pitch.

Mine was at Old Trafford around 1979/80, the first season we were in Div 1 (the match when Steele and Williams had a face to face...?). I remember getting the train up with my Mum and two friends arriving eventually at the end of a massive queue by the Clock end and then getting seats right in the front row of the upper stand. The team were on our train on the way back and John Vinicombe got the players autographs for me in my book. Great day out - lots of Scandinavian Man U fans there though. Used to love going to the odd way game.Norwich was always a laugh (blazing scarfs) but was put off a bit in the early 80s when "hard" West Ham fans took it upon themselves to jump myself (16/17 years old) and my disabled brother who walked with a limp.

Peterborough in the Cup 1986. I was 13. Remember feeling slightly nervous at the "you're gonna get your f***ing heads kicked in" chant.

The Argus were giving out commemorative red scarves at the station. Still have mine to this day.

Lol, at Peterboro? I remember that game, their fans made moves towards the 6k Albion fans, and then commonsense got the better of them.

Sent from my wardrobe whilst watching Susannah Reid and Sian Williams enjoy a clam sandwich.

Aldershot away in the sixties. The pitch was unbelievable. Looked like the Adur at low ride. 14,000 corwd and we did not hear a peep from the home supporters. We would not have known they were in the ground. 0-0. Bloody awful non-game.

Replay with 29,000+ at the Goldstone was buzzing.

First away match was at Portsmouth in 88 (aged 14). I went with my mate Noel and the Spicer twins (recently arrested for fraud) on the train. Can't remember much about the game, I think we lost, but Noel was pulled out along with 4 or 5 others by the police for surging, and had to go back to Brighton in the mail cage on the train :lolol:

Our next expedition was Selhurst Park, Kelvin Morton stole the show that day (prick).

I'd been going to the Goldstone for a couple of years then, but the away matches were where the Albion really got into my blood. The sense of us against them, being outnumbered but singing up for the team. The aggro, the aggressive stewards and policing and the occasional win....brilliant.
