Can't wait for this to happen on a foggy day then the game gets called off

The fireworks didn’t help the atmosphere.

I’m mid-way up the East Lower.

I’m mildly asthmatic and whilst it didn’t affect my breathing very much, I was unable to give Sussex By The Sea my usual gusto and could hardly see the players coming onto the pitch. It did affect the back of my throat and was very uncomfortable.

The visibility was impaired for quite a while, too.

I’m glad I missed it at the Newcastle match (I was queueing at the water station). If it continues, I may have to tactically miss the teams coming out in future, too, which is a shame.

I’ve got pretty bad asthma and it really affected me at the Newcastle game. I wasn’t at the game yesterday, but if the fireworks continue then I may need to start arriving a bit later or potentially giving games a swerve altogether. I appreciate that probably sounds dramatic for a lot of people, but having my asthma aggravated isn’t something that clears that quickly. I’ll be in discomfort and out of breath for several days, which just isn’t worth it when balanced against a couple of hours at the football.

Perfick trade-off would be scrapping the fireworks and keeping the Spitfire doing a victory roll over the Amex. Either that or hire the Red Arrows to do a fly-past (minus the red smoke obviously)

The smoke stank the place out for a while and was virtually impossible to see the teams read out on the big screen. Do this occasionally but not every game

My seat is in East lower and I’m mildly asthmatic but still enjoy the display. Do think it’s ironic that this season there’s harsher penalties for fans bringing in pyro and the club are doing a display that creates way more smoke than the average pyro.

Only 1 fan got carried out of the East stand yesterday due to the smoke suffering from breathing difficulties. Not bad out of 31,000.

I get asthma and have to take my pump everywhere I go , but talk about over exaggerating the effect of a few fireworks, I felt no discomfort at all ,
Perhaps there should be breathing apparatus available for all the people on here who can’t cope with a few fireworks 💥

Blimey, we try and generate a little atmosphere and the fun sponges are out in force to put a stop to it.

For a little context, this is what a football stadium can be like. (Not the nonsense we see up in Croydon.)

I've seen a match there standing behind the goal and it's insane the atmosphere created. Looked up once and saw the concrete of the tier above bending back and forth with the pressure of the fans jumping up and down...

Amazingly, everyone enjoyed themselves and no-one felt the need to complain or scream for a policeman :amex:

Not gonna moan about fireworks. Fanzone however is now beyond naff that it almost decreases atmosphere. I’d love to see that revamped/replaced.

Can’t work out if you are posting this to say it’s a good thing or a bad thing ???

Yeah I was being rhetorical.

In fairness the steward and the guy's son seemed to help him back to the concourse to get some air, and then good to see after about 15mins of the match they returned to their seats seemingly ok.

Smokebombs are not flares.

This is a flare

What has been brought into the ground recently is a perfectly safe smoke bomb, the type which is sold to celebrate weddings or the announcement of a baby's gender.

There is a world of difference between a flare and a smoke bomb.

A bit of a stretch to describe a smoke bomb as perfectly safe when it can have a detrimental effect on those with respiratory problems!!!

Whilst I like and enjoy fireworks, I think the club shouldn't use them as the smoke hung around for sometime and the can't complain about people letting of smoke bombs when that is effectively what they are doing!!

I guess the club must have thought long and hard about the introduction of fireworks, including a full elfin safety impact risk assessment etc etc. Not the kind of thing you just, er, introduce on a whim
