No offence, but given our start and adding the signing of the best player we've ever had, I don't see how mid-table could be anything other than a disappointment.

Of course the play-offs are far from guaranteed, and we'll have to do bloody well if we're going to climb up to the Premier League already, but top 6 has to be the target, doesn't it? We do have an outside chance of top 2, so I'd have to think if someone offered me 6th now - I probably wouldn't take it. If someone offered me 12th, I'd tell them where to stick it.

I really don't want to see us in the Premier League in the near future. A few seasons of good solid Championship results plus maybe a couple of flirtations with the playoffs would be fine for me. All the Premier League would offer would be a relegation fight every season and I've had enough of that watching Brighton over the years.

I'd take 6th in a heartbeat. But its a long hard season fella, and it ain't gonna be easy.

I completely agree with your second sentence!

The bookies are pretty unanimous in having us currently expected to finish 4th. Obviously they do (despite the stereotype) get it wrong now and again, but if they think 4th I'm not going to go accepting 2 places below that. But then I'm a gambler by nature... :)

Why? If Fulham - in a stadium 5,000 smaller than the expanded Amex will be - can be mid-table, and even finish top 7 and reach the UEFA Cup final, why on earth couldn't we?

I disagree, I would be perfectly happy with mid table and seeing us hold our own, but obviously I would be ecstatic if we reached the playoffs, or even flirted with automatic.

Each to their own, but I'm only saying that I would not be disappointed with mid table.
