I watched 'The Apartment' for the first time at the weekend. It's a great film and I wasn't aware that it's a Christmas film. It's not a family feel good heart warmer, but it shows a gleaming nugget of humanity among the dishonesty, greed and selfishness. Shirley McLaine's performance was a masterclass in stillness.

Looking forward to watching this, used to like a slasher as a teenager (the 1974 original not the remake).

One of my all time favourite films, absolutely superb and I heartily agree re McLaine's performance.

Shocked that trash like John Wick is on your list!

I always like to watch some Harry Harryhausen around Xmas - Clash of the Titans, any of the Sinbads, Jason and the Argonauts etc. It reminds me of being young and I guess that's what Christmas is about.

I thought it was about Jesus.
