The problem with Titanic is its sentimental Americanised mush, which sought to portray the classes in the place. Kate Omelette then put on a performance at the behest of the director which completely missed the point with relation to period detail. She may or may not have been a 'class rebel', but Leo Sproutface would not have been allowed anywhere near those toffs.
It's a film totally divorced from any reality, in what was a catastrophic, if avoidable, tragedy.
