The 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup got underway in Poland yesterday. Unfortunately England failed to qualify but there is Albion interest as Leo Skiri Ostigard has been named in the Norwegian squad.

Norway play their first group fixture later today against Uruguay. They then play against New Zealand on Monday and Honduras on Thursday.

Hang on. We won the last one but don’t qualify for this one? Ashworth out.

The UEFA qualification process is through the European U-19 Championship, which was held last summer (July 2018). The timing is ridiculous and I believe we were missing a whole bunch of players. Anyway, our very own Max Sanders was in the squad (and played very well). However, we finished third in our group and had a FIFA U-20 World Cup play-off with Norway (who were captained by Leo Ostigard, before he joined us). Norway won 3-0.
