I think that Panorama should have another go, I reckon they pulled their punches on that documentary, time to really expose the fraud and shame that are FIFA. It is time that the organisation that runs the most popular sport in the world is completely transparent, including the processes it uses to run the game and the people charged with implementing them.

I think that there is a real appetite in the country - irrespective of whether we'd have been awarded the 2018 World Cup - for someone, be it a national newspaper, a TV programme or whatever, to dig deep into FIFA and expose its corruption, nepotism and greed - all of which appear to be being swept under the carpet so unconvincingly that you can't think anything other than that the organisation is institutionally bent.

I hope someone is doing that, and I hope it has an effect.

It would be interesting to find out if football fans from other countries share many English fans' views on FIFA.

I agree the gloves should come off. Not with sour grapes because of Russia winning but for all the other reports we keep hearing about time after time.

Foreign laborers are subject to arbitrary deportation. Human trafficking is a problem. Worker rights are severely restricted, especially for foreign laborers and domestic servants, who make up a majority of the laboring population.

So lets give them the chance to build a dozen stadiums or so.

While it's a bit unfair to single any one hack out, and I'm sure Paul Hayward enjoys some local support on here as well as being a fine writer, you do have a point in there.

There are a lot of high-profile football journalists out there who don't do that much for their money. They go to all the big games, pontificate on TV and radio, write well-written match reports and opinion pieces - but what do they really unearth of any significance? There is a cosy gravy-train involving the clubs, the Premier League, governing bodies, sponsors, agents and broadcasters and not too many - Andrew Jennings being an honourable exception - are prepared to rock the boat. All sorts of stories are supressed to maintain relationships, and ultimately it backfires on the papers because they lose respect and serious clout.

Like most people, I can't wait for Fifa to get turned over good and proper.

To be fair, a lot of what you're proposing is quite specialised financial analysis that may be beyond the average footballer writer but David Conn and Tom Bower have done some work on this.

Don't forget that the Argus's Paul Bracchi and Andy Naylor that did a lot of the work on exposing the shenanigans of the Archer regime and Naylor gets plenty of abuse on here, so I'm not sure that many football fans want to read too much of this stuff anyway. Stories on what nightclub Joey Barton's been thrown out of or who Ashley Cole is shagging will be more popular.

I have to admit that the disappointment about England missing out on 2018 has subsided, there is a fair chance that Russia will put on a good tournament and you can see the logic of it going to eastern Europe for the first time. However, I am still pretty hacked off at Qatar getting it the one after, I still can't get my head round that for many of the reasons that we have already done to death on here. It seems like the legacy will be that the grounds are taken apart and moved to other countries where there is a need, what a wonderful gift from Qatar...if they also commit to improving the lot for women and migrant workers, who get a pretty shit time if we are honest, then I might finally come round to the idea.

I found a cheeky little vid on YouTube today that shows some of the stadia and I have to admit that they do look pretty smart...I wonder if our friends up the road in Croydon might be tempted to put in a bid for one of the stadia, in an attempt to bring football to Surrey!

The third stadium in seems to be part of a huge sporting complex, I wonder if they might be about to bid for the Olympics too, they have already hosted the Asian games.
