An initial analysis of Financial Fair Play submissions from the current 24 Championship clubs has indicated that three clubs – Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest – have failed to meet the Fair Play Requirement under the division’s Financial Fair Play rules. Consequently, all three will be subject to an ‘FFP embargo’ under Football League regulations from January 1, 2015 for the remainder of the current campaign...............

As I've said previously, no club can declare that they have passed, only the FL, as they have done today.

Why have only 3 been announced?!?

I truly despair if this is it. This is one of the main reasons we've fallen off a cliff over the last few months

3 obvious ones have been announced. Those that have missed the target by miles.

Those that failed by a smaller margin may require more in depth scrutiny.

The Football League is currently in discussions with a number of other clubs over their FFP submissions and will confirm any further FFP embargoes, if any, in due course....

Bournemouth's chairman is all smug and happy in the paper today after receiving assurances from the Football League that Bournemouth have passed.

But fair play, they've been slaughtered by most clubs for over-spending, and now they've passed FFP it's a big F-You to those that criticised.

When has it been claimed that Bloom is the financial saviour of English football? The original rules were drawn up when the parachute payments were 50% less than they are now. Why vote for something that will make it even harder to compete? What are clubs supposed to do when the payments for failure in the PL are so lucrative and ridiculous?

How do the new FFP rules help any club compete with those receiving parachute payments? - in fact they appear to do the exact opposite!

All the new rules seem to do is make the total parachute payment payable over three years instead of four, (no mention of the payments being reduced in total).

In addition clubs relegated from the Premier League will be permitted to suffer greater losses than those who haven't - teams that have been in the PL for at least two years will be permitted to lose £83M over 3 years without penalty and those who have only spent one season in the PL £61M - compare that to the maximum loss of £39M for all other teams.

THAT, is the real issue. Parachute payments skew the entire dynamics of such a system.

However the outpourings of apopolyptic, paroxysms of faux-rage from some on this thread, that somehow AFCB were in their lofty position due to paying their players more than BHA could possibly pay (those players who were 3rd and 4th division players a couple of years ago) and nothing to do with the ability of Eddie Howe to get more our of those players than Lee Bradbury, Paul Groves, Jimmy Quinn, Kevin Bond etc. does make one wonder for the survival of the human race.

Those are the rules and punishments that clubs signed up to. The fines were for clubs who broke the rules and were promoted.

And the new FFP rules skew them even more by allowing relegated clubs to make more than double the losses of other Championship clubs!

Clearly we at Brighton have done something wrong or missed a trick, when we've basically banked on the 'fact' that half the division or more will be crippled by FFP sanctions allowing Bloom's more recent spending plan to come to fruition?

Or will this just allow our board to point their fingers at FFP and distract from our failings?

They're not even barred from signing players - Leeds think they can still bring in 4 new faces. They just have to be free transfers and not cost more than 600k a year. The real problems only kick in if you have more than 24 players aged 21+ who've played 5+ games... Then you can only sign a new player if you let one go first. Again, under the same criteria as above (free & less than 600k a year).

It does rather feel as if we've been duped. The punishments for going for promotion suggest it would have been worth breaking the rules... Although it's Bloom's money, so I suppose it's up to him....

Don't know what those are exactly however it did give me a thought. Instead of a financial penalty, clubs failing FFP have to compromised with their on pitch attire, so for example a minor breach means their shirts have to be slightly heavier/made from itchier material and going to a major breach the players have to wear football boots from the 60's

It sounds like that digging is ongoing. At least that's what I understood 'in discussion with clubs' meant.
