FFP an idea

Any thoughts of an increase in FFP penalties is pie in the sky - far more likely that FFP rules will be relaxed or abandoned altogether!

Changes either way require a majority of the 72 league chairmen to vote in favour - how many of the current Championship chairmen would vote for tightening the rules right now? ???

But they will still gain their ill-gotten gains of 1 years PL money, and 4 years PL parachute money even if they comes straight back down due to the 15 point penalty.

Make it financial penalties in the £10m's on top of a points deduction, should do it.

The thing is, Tony Fernades could dig £30m out of his wallet if he wanted.
Financial penalties won't stop QPR, or Forest for that matter.

They should have to prove they have stayed within FFP for THIS season, not next, then a points penalty would stop the buggers.

A 15 point deduction for those who fail to satisfy the criteria might make club chairman think.

Impossible. Club could be in Prem which is a completely different jurisdiction.

Best solution is scrap it and let market forces dictate as they do in every other part of the free world. Clubs go to the wall, just like businesses do, that's life!

I agree, but the trouble is it takes many months for audited accounts to be complete, which is mid-way into the next season, meaning cheats like Forest and Leicester will by then be in the PL enjoying the vast new cash inflows.

To put in perspective:
The bottom club in the PL is now guaranteed £63m from the PL deal this season (up from £39m for QPR last season).

The total annual turnover from all sources for the likes of BHA, Leicester, Forest and Leeds is c. £22m each.

Hence this little obsession from Leicester and Forest's owners who quite clearly don't give a jot about these rules. Their squads look rather strong with a lot of very well known ex-PL names, despite having no greater income than BHA.

A majority I'd imagine.

Well the majority of clubs are aiming to conform to the limits. QPR and Forrest are the only ones who appear to be completely ignoring it in our division.

Scrapping it won't make a difference to us anyway. Tony Bloom wants us to become self sufficient, and rightly so.

The league could just ban teams from getting promoted if they fail to comply with FFP so there is clearly a hidden agenda here. Fines for breaching FFP were also going to other clubs in the division originally but now believed to be going to charity.
