We did the opposite and stayed for the player's lap. Thankfully, most other people did, so the P&R queue wasn't too bad by the time we DID leave.

But then all the fun and games started with A27 delays and detours for the buses!

Wouldn't have missed that for anything. Amazing how a game with relatively little on it (from the point of view that we were already through) can go from calm to carnage with a late, late winner.

Agreed was amazing to see how full it was when the players went down the tunnel. We normally go on the final whistle, but it made no difference staying yesterday as everyone else did. Back in Worthing by 11.45pm for a kebab and walk home

The stewards told us the back car park at the race course was being locked up at 10.45 which was ridiculous really as it was rammed. I got there around 11 after clapping off the lads and it was about a quarter full so loads must of panicked and left early to get there before 10.45.

There were a group of 3 behind me who left on 69 (sixty-nine) minutes last night, having spent all of the second half discussing what time train to get and when to leave. Besides that, the woman spent most of the 69 minutes saying that she didn’t think subs should be allowed to warm up along the touch line as it was distracting. She was so satisfied with this point that she made it 4 times.

Probably had to go in early today because some knob who works for him saved all his 2023 holiday entitlement for Brighton’s Euro adventure and ended up with so much Annual Leave left to take that he finished for Christmas on Tuesday.

My new boss is having to do that and work this weekend too - oh how I laughed!!!

We paid extra to be in a Seagulls Travel coach yesterday just so we could stay to the end without concerns. Glad we did.

I like to think we wouldn’t have left before the end anyway…. But we did at the AEK match when they announced 13 minutes of injury time.

My eldest daughter did and was absolutely gutted. Although she has my 6 months old granddaughter to feed who refuses the bottle and it's the longest she's ever been without a feed, so she sort of has an excuse.

Prior to 2 years ago when my grandson was born, we had a ST next to each other all thru the Championship and into the PL and I think the only time we left early was at the Stains game when we were battered. Maybe one or 2 of Hyypias.

Still with the A27 crash, was a bit hairy when she got home.

Had a 9 year old and a 7 year old with me. They have school today. People have their reasons you know.



Not me though, because me and my boys are proper fans. Never in a million years were we leaving that game early.

Those who live a long distance from the Amex have explained before, on here, the difference those five minutes can make to their long slog home. I can certainly understand it. So this post isn't to ridicule nor poke fun at them - let's be kind.

I'm more interested in the stories of legging it towards the station or the car park and hearing the roof come off the Amex behind you, and the like.

Got back a couple of minutes before 1am, thanks to the A27 accident, and two further A27 (roadworks) closures later along the drive. Properly knackered this morning.

Just as well I plan to do nothing at work today other than drink tea and read about football.

We literally left stadium when the noise indicated the goal. I saw the goal on youtube- pretty good one. Clever decision to left early as some biker hit the car in front of our bus(first bus which left the stadium) and we stopped for few minutes but I believe that the buses after were delayed due to this accident. Straight from the game we went to bognor, picked up our bags and off we go to Luton airport as we had a plane at 5:45 am. Now in Poland knackered as f…

It was noticeably fuller at full time than usual.

I'm guessing the east stand had a smallerr concentration of season ticket holders and a higher proportion of people who had come to see the result.
It looke dlike there may even have been fans standing and singing.

Atmosphere was excellent for the majority of the game too.
Spurred on to compete, with the noisiest away fans I can remember.

I can confirm (unless Barbs is reading this) that the majority of the Family Stand was standing after the goal, until the end of the game! And hardly anyone left early, either.

We were stuck in that for about 45 mins - there was a nasty motorbike and car collision which caused a lot of the tail backs. The concourse was nearly clear and queues moving very quickly from the actual stadium by the time we left the East Lower - presumably because so many people were staying back to celebrate and OM fans kept back.

Of course we didn’t leave early - I did say on another thread before the match, that RDZ had said don’t go before the final whistle because he was promising a late winning goal - tsk people don’t always listen - ( Thank you Pedro!)

Edit - and yes, can testify to the rebellion in the E1 - Everyone standing until the end of the game after the goal, even the aged and infirm.

There was utter rebellion in 1901 after the goal. There seemed to be a concerted effort to stay standing until the end. Well, that felt like the start of the October revolution. Luckily, for the sake of stable society, a few old dodgers couldn’t stand-up for that long, sat down, and yelled at the rest of us to do the same. We complied without a mumble.
