I'm assuming all is not well in the head of Marcus Rashford.
A work colleague was snorting with derision about his possible mental health issues:
"With that sort of money he should shut the f*** up and play"
(My work colleague is a Millwall supporter who refused to vaccinate against Covid).

I have no idea what the problem is with Rashford.
But "He should leave all that Changing the World bollocks alone" seems to be a rather one-eyed take.
(My Millwall supporting colleague again, there).

So what about Ferguson?
Does he have a physical issue or a mental health one?
Or is he, what my Millwall supporting colleague would call, "a lazy ****"?

I would be astonished if our club doesn't keep close tabs on our players in terms of health (physical and mental) on the one hand
and "waywardness" and "twatfactor quotient" on the other
And they would absolutely not blab to the press about it, any of it.

And from what I have seen, Fergy is a decent lad.

So I appreciate the desire to Discuss on NSC, but I can't help feeling that our discussions about Fergy are almost 100% uninformed.

I hope whatever it is with Fergy works out well for all concerned, ideally at The Albion.
(Same applies to Rashford, albeit especially if he gets to leave the cesspit that is ManUre)

They are almost certainly near-100% uninformed, so with two existing threads near the top about him already why start another one to perpetuate the uninformed bollocks ?

I think the thing I’m most sure about of anything in this is that your Millwall colleague is a complete bell-end

To perpetuate the bollocks? Read what I wrote. My intention was the opposite.
And if this thread annoys you so much it is you that is perpetuating it by replying

Perhaps I don't like the other thread?
(I don't like the other thread.
It has far to much 'he's shit, get rid' about it.
A post like mine stating that we don't know anything has no traction in such an environment).

And also, I'll post what I like, where I like, till I'm made to stop

I'm sure a moderator will be along in a minute to merge the threads if this one is a problem.

Indeed.

Sadly his attitude is not uncommon.

I thought (in the last cameo I saw from him) that he was putting himself about a bit and looked more like the Ferguson of old. Since then he’s been injured.

If he’s back in contention, and Danny’s injured, I’d happily see him back on the pitch as a No. 9. Hürzeler clearly sets a lot of store by consistent application in training, and I wonder if he isn’t seeing/hasn’t seen what he needs from Ferguson to put him on the pitch more.

In answer to the original question, I would say both. There was clearly some form of illness or injury that hit him hard. Then a corresponding loss of belief, or a frustration at not navigating straight back into first team contention, that perhaps hasn’t been handled (on all sides) as well as it could be.

I haven’t given up on him, but equally, the coaches rules have to apply across the board. No exceptions.

Edit: this is all speculation, no inside info.

Agree with your post but especially this.

And btw thanks to you, we have now been linked to Marcus Rashford this window - let’s see how the algorithms respond to that

Where’s the poll?

What and fuel even more speculat … oh hang on

Harry where’s the legitimate pole question?

Or just a pole to vault away on would be good 🙂

Can’t help thinking we will regret letting the lad go if he’s allowed to leave on a permanent deal this month. A loan to build up his confidence/mental wellbeing is the way to go.

My guess is Rashford just doesn't find playing football (and the circus that comes with it) fun any more. But I imagine it's not easy to just step away from either, for many reasons. I should stress that my words are entirely 100 percent speculation.

Nice, thought provoking thread, Harry. Have you been upsetting people lately to elicit those unfriendly responses?

Not that I am aware of. And the unfriendly responses are from two people with whom I imagine I share much common perspective. Most queer.

(The caveat being that if there are more than two unfriendly responses....I may not be able to see them....because....I do have a rather extensive ignore list :lolol: ).

As to the thrust of the topic, yes, it is interesting....mountains of guff in the media about Rashford (because he's at ManU) and no information about Fergy (because he's Brighton, and because our club is discrete).

I am constantly minded to step back from all tropes, whether in the media or indeed in my own field, because so much of it is confirmation bias.
And, as I illustrated with my Millwall colleague, in the absence of fact one's opinion is based on that of one's silo of choice.
