[Food] Fennel what to do with it ?

Just had 2 fennel turned up in a fruit and veggie box... I don’t think I have ever eaten fennel before.

What can I do with it??

Simple suggestions please.. receipe suggestions and not where I can stick it [MENTION=28934]AmexRuislip[/MENTION].

Goes well with white fish

It's great in salad - I use it a lot in the summer.

It goes very well braised with some orange too.

I must say that two of them is taking the piss a bit - fennel has an overwhelming flavour and can't really be used as a basis for a main dish as it overpowers everything

Fennel does have an overwhelming flavour, but less so if you roast it. Works well then as a side dish, if you roast it with Parmesan.

I've never tried fennel, I don't really like aniseed and it supposedly has that sort of flavour profile. But there's this lot of recipes:

Yes, but that overwhelming flavour is overwhelmingly gorgeous! Very aniseedy.

I am always disappointed when I can't find fennel. My fault for shopping in Asda...

Thinly slice and put in a salad. I’ve made the salad below a few times, nice, replace with whatever you have. Always good with fish, e,g, fish, tomatoes and fennel in a papillote to steam.

That's usually made with the seeds I believe, not the bulb. I love aniseed flavour and fennel seed is a gooden!
