I have a strong wife, two strong daughters and now a grand-daughter (who is only three weeks old) - and i am fairly happy with the arrangement.

We are all pretty sensible about it, but if any man started discriminating against any of them, I know which side I would be on. My younger daughter is a doctor and a couple of years ago was due to be assisting in surgery on an orthopaedic placement with hip replacements. She was "stood down" because she was only a girl and they had a lot of heavy patients. She complained and had her complaint upheld. She is only 5ft 2ins, but could beat any boy in her class at arm wrestling, was a judo county champion when still at school and these days plays rugby at a fairly high level. She is also probably a far better doctor than most of the arrogant male prats she trained with.

That is bullshit indeed. Has she appealed the decision?

She complained that she was stood down, and had her complaint upheld. Apparently orthopaedics is a notoriously male-dominated and sexist part of medicine. Luckily it was all done in a relatively good-humoured and amicable way

Feminism is a sound principle, women should of course be equal in most circumstances. Feminists on the other hand are akin to conspiracy theorists, try debating with them, they ignore statistics and facts which do not suit their argument and exaggerate small problems to suit their agenda. I have nothing against feminism as a concept, but I absolutely despise feminists. I havent read a single legitimate argument supported by good evidence by a feminist writer in a year of studying it, they all rely on boring cliches such as 'do you need a penis to do (insert job title)' etc.

Men and women are biologically and physically different, in some circumstances this means that one gender is more equipped to deal with a task than the other, this works both ways of course. You will never hear this fact come out of a mainstream feminist's mouth.

No it doesn't. It might mean that SOME MEMBERS of one gender are more equipped for a task than SOME MEMBERS of the other, but there's a huge amount of cross-over in the middle. There are men and women who are better than me at carrying heavy stuff. There are men and women who are better than me at other stuff. The basis of feminism is that people should be traeted equally, and be allowed to carry out tasks they're capable of despite their gender, not because of it. Not all men are the same, not all women are the same.

For som,e reason in Seaford all librarians seem to be women, with the occasional"token" appearance. They don't carry about the books much though. Just endlessly gossip.

Take a look at modern TV (especially adverts) the man is most often portrayed as a bit of an idiot not really knowing what is going on, basically an extra kid for the smart woman (who has got every thing sorted and knows all the answers) to look after.
The perfect example of this is Coronation Street.
As it's mainly watched by women you can bet your boots that all men almost without exception are.... mentally ill, rapists, murderers, alcoholics, cheats, sex pets, perverts or utterly hopless cases.
The women almost without exception are strong, virtuous, dominant and to receive the viewers' sympathy.

I had this chat with Mrs Biffer last week and intended to prove my point. The episode I saw showed Nigel Havers as an old cad who just cheated Audrey out of a load of her money. Quod erat demonstrandum.

Women in this country don't know how good they have it. I always treat women as if they were equal.
Women have so many choices: Have a career, be a housewife, have a career and be a housewife, have kids and stay at home, don't have kids and stay at home, work part time with with no kids, work part time and have kids and on and on. Men still have the same two choices we have had since the dawn of man. Work or prison.

You realise that is exactly what I meant? Of course there is a huge crossover, that is what I meant by most circumstances. There are however some jobs that some women will always be better at than all men, and vice versa.

Nothing wrong with a bit of feminism. I think it's quite sweet really.

That's the bit I disagree with. I can't think of a single job where the best person will ALWAYS be a man, or a woman. I certainly don't think they'll be the best BECAUSE of their gender.

Just you wait, in a few years time women will get the measure of what it's like to have to work and provide for your family, putting other's first, even working to the detriment of your own health at times, as men have done since time immemorium. Then they'll put an end to all this flummery and get back to choosing soft furnishings and making things smell nice and we can all get back to normal. All of these 1980's ideals can be put to rest and we can get the country back on track. You've had a fair crack girls, I'll give you that and in some areas you have even have some limited success. I remember on my last visit to my dentist and I may have just been under the influence of nitrous but I'm pretty certain a lady was there handing him things at times. By all acounts she did a sterling job. So come on girls, you've had your fun but let's get things back as they should be eh, flowerpot?
